Tahj Ace x Metamorphosis: Never Folding In the Face of Adversity

Brooklyn based hip-hop artist Tahj Ace has been honing his craft for years. Spending time in the music scene; Tahj draws inspiration from old school hip hop, trap, boom bap and jazz. His relentless curiosity for music has led him to experiment widely in pursuit of self expression and a feel good sound to share with those around him.

Inspired to start creating music with a group of childhood friends one summer, Tahj’s material was developed organically in his local neighborhood. As the artist polished his talent and branched out into the scene; Tahj started hip hop group Eramatics, which he managed himself. Going solo with mixtape Cool High, Tahj drew from classical jazz and trap in a smart and winning combination of flow and rhythm. Tahj’s noticeable collaborations are with artists such as Frank Stoney, SupremeJJay, Alpha Simmonds and Eramatics bandmate Lexington. Tahj’s collaborations served as great successes; receiving rave reviews from Music On the Dot and an in depth interview with Above Average Hip Hop. Going on to release Cool High 2, Taj worked with California based producer Jet Blast Music on outro track STARR, for which he dropped the video in late 2019 to much anticipation. Going from strength to strength, Tahj released 7 track EP Metamorphosis in March 2020. Since progressing through the music scene; Tahj has steadily continued to build his career to greater heights while maintaining his authenticity. Keeping to his mission of appealing to those both young and old; Tahj builds on the style of now-classic pioneers such as Wu-Tang Clan, Biggie Smalls, and Kriss Kross, as well as Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Chance the Rapper. Tahj’s greatest inspirations however come from the scene around him, with contemporaries such as G Herbo fueling the fire which drives this budding musicians path.

Multitalented and entrepreneurial, Tahj Ace has also been an actor and model and set up Seven Ace Records. He thinks of his artistry as multifaceted and draws on the strong love for music, fashion and art in his native New York by combining the three in his own work, with his music videos often featuring his own DIY fashion. A collaborator through and through, his passion for the scene around him and the meaning which music brings to those who listen to it show through in his innovation and creativity. Always pushing himself, he follows the mantra ‘never fold in the face of adversity’, seeking to inspire others with what he does. His successes have seen him play in Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Los Angeles and he has been covered internationally by publications such as Indie Pulse Magazine and Germany’s Supex, as well as performing at festival shows in Canada.

This project openly displays how a diverse artist uses music as a source of inspiration to tell their story. Each song creates a different vibe that once the beat drops you can feel it. Throughout the tape you can also hear the versatility in each track. With his unique lyrical patterns and catchy hooks, Tahj Ace shows us how he is a force to be reckon with.
