Broadway Actor Jared Zirilli On Current Projects, Acting Within Professional Wrestling & More

Last seen on Broadway originating the role of Bruce Sudano, Donna Summer’s husband, in SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical, Jared Zirilli is an in-demand, New York-based actor. Beyond appearing in Broadway’s Lysistrata Jones and as part of touring productions of Wicked and We Will Rock You, Zirilli has been seen on television’s Law And Order: SVU, Blindspot, and Blue Bloods. The prolific actor — who is married to fellow Broadway star Whitney Bashor, who will be appearing in the forthcoming MJ The Musical — has also found time over the years as a coach and guiding force to budding actors.

Jared Zirilli, who was the subject of my recent feature for The Hype on the aforementioned Bruce Sudano, has also become a friend as of late via social media. Those who follow Zirilli on Twitter may quickly pick up on his fandom of professional wrestling, which is one of the beats I often cover. I had the pleasure of interviewing Zirilli on June 24, 2020 on Zoom about a variety of topics, including:

– Life during COVID-19
– Upcoming projects for himself and his wife
– Meeting DDPY founder Diamond Dallas Page
– Growing up around Zack Ryder (a.k.a. Matt Cardona)
– Whether there are other Broadway actors who like wrestling
– Coaching aspiring professional actors
– Important causes to him outside of work
