DaWeirdo: A Fly Conscious Visual of Chicago’s Elite

Darrel McKinney (formerly known as Young HoodChiano) is an emerging American Hip-Hop artist from Chicago, Illinois. Now known as DaWeirdo, he brings a style of music based on real stories from the inner city neighborhoods of Chicago such as Englewood, where he grew up. He uses his experiences, through his lyrics, to speak out for individuals that are considered outcasts and have never had an opportunity to tell their stories. His creativity in the music industry has excelled his career to a broader audience where people from all walks of life can relate and understand his message.

At the age of nine, Darrel started writing and recording to music. Since then, he has progressed to enormous heights. He created a music tour called “Stop Teen Violence Music Tour”, performing at Chicago’s inner city high schools. In this tour, he left motivational messages for students, encouraging them to focus more on their dreams than the streets. This lead him to his television debut on BET’s 106 & Park, where he was featured on a single called “Get it” with R&B artist Lovandre. This gave him national exposer as the talented artist he is today.

This visual composition of events created by DaWeirdo’s and his older brother’s independent marketing and digital distribution label A Fly Visual created the anticipated sequel  Guilty Conscience Part II; demonstrating the everyday struggles the black community faces when dealing with our own conscious and consequences of our own decisions. Throughout the versus of this video  the ‘angel vs devil’ narrative  is heavily displayed. Guilty Conscience Part II demonstrates the common balance that is faced when deciding whether one acts off of  logic or emotions. This music video exudes nodes of Kendrick Lamar Vibes with an infusion of Outkast vibes. Poetic and conscious DaWeirdo is setting himself apart from the typical rap career and is designated for greatness throughout his creativity and execution of his vision as an artist and businessman.
