0GFTD Premieres “Soothe The Soul” Featuring Jackie Paladino Via The Hype, Talks 2nd Generation Wu
Known by many as “2nd Generation WU,” GFTD is comprised of iNTeLL (son of U-God) and PXWER (son of Method Man) with frequent collaborations from Sun God (son of Ghostface Killah) and Young Dirty Bastard (son of the late Old Dirty Bastard). In the words of XXL about GFTD: “There will never be another Wu-Tang Clan, but it looks like fans can expect the next best thing.”
The Hype Magazine is proud to premiere the latest music from GFTD, “Soothe The Soul,” as embedded below. Produced by 88-Keys (Mos Def, Kanye, Mac Miller, Sia), the track itself pays homage to hip-hop’s Golden Age with New York’s Jackie Paladino in on the vocal interplay. It is indeed a notable follow-up to the group’s most recent track “New Generation Remix,” which featured Method Man.
Commented PXWER to The Hype Magazine about the track and its entertaining music video: “’Soothe The Soul’ is basically that hip-hop s**t, nothing more to it. Bars over a beat that’ll be timeless in the long run, working with a GRAMMY Award-winning and legendary producer like 88 was all the motivation I needed in the studio. Dude made no church in the wild bro, come on. Doing this video with the world in madness kinda brought me back to being a rapper instead of producing beats locked in my room day in and day out — it was fun to be in front of a camera again.”
Added iNTeLL The Hype Magazine: “I love this song, and working with the legendary 88-Keys was epic. After we built the foundation with him we then let it marinate more in house with our engineer Squeegie-O and myself and after the right amount of time we had what I like to call a sonic soufflé. For the video I wanted to recreate the Rat Pack era, but with trap video graphics just because, why not? Turns out that was a pretty amazing idea because the video is like a moving painting. The 2nd Generation Wu sound is dope, But now this is our way of letting y’all know how truly GFTD we are.”
