UTA SIGNS deadmau5

Leading global talent and entertainment company UTA has signed electronic music superstar and multi-hyphenate deadmau5 for worldwide representation in all areas. In addition to further developing deadmau5’s robust touring business, UTA will help the artist expand his content in spaces such as gaming, animation, film, philanthropy, entrepreneurial ventures, and branding as well as explore opportunities for his label mau5trap.

Most recently, deadmau5 (real name: Joel Zimmerman) collaborated with production duo The Neptunes on the critically acclaimed, R&B-infused single “Pomegranate,” which was released in May 2020 via his mau5trap imprint to critical acclaim. The song will be featured on his next album.

Earlier this year, deadmau5 completed his North American cubev3 tour, which was a massive success with over 150,000 tickets and 5,000 VIP packages sold, as well as $1M in merchandise sales. The tour encompassed 39 shows in 17 cities, including multiple shows in Los Angeles, New York City, and Red Rocks. The shows featured the one-of-a-kind cubev3 stage apparatus, which deadmau5 created with Chris Schroeder Productions and debuted at the 2019 Ultra Music Festival. The cubev3 can change positions from 90 degrees into 45 degrees and rotate 360 degrees while showcasing mind-bending visuals from the artist. The cube has been a staple of deadmau5’s shows since its first iteration debuted at Coachella in 2010.

UTA will also represent Testpilot, deadmau5’s alias.  Making a debut unlike any other, Testpilot stood alongside Richie Hawtin for his first performance, performing back-to-back with the techno pioneer at SXSW 2013.  Since then, the artist – who fuses the tradition and soul of techno with a razor edge – has gone on to play across some of the most coveted stages around the world. Performances have been few but monumental, from Detroit’s Movement Festival and Ultra’s Resistance stages in both Miami and in Ibiza and the legendary terrace of Space Miami for a co-headline spot with Richie Hawtin.

Known for performing with his signature mau5 head, deadmau5 has released eight studio albums since 2005, when he dropped his debut album Get Scraped. He has produced a wide variety of hit singles including platinum-certified “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” as well as “Faxing Berlin,” “Aural Psynapse,” “Sofi Needs A Ladder,” “There Might Be Coffee,” and “Some Chords,” among many others. His album 4×4=12 was certified platinum by the RIAA, while W:/2016ALBUM/ and > album title goes here < both reached #1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Chart.

deadmau5 is one of the most respected artists in the electronic music space with six GRAMMY award nominations and three Juno Award wins. He has played a key role in bringing the genre into the mainstream throughout his career. He was the first electronic music artist to headline the mainstage at Lollapalooza in 2011 and to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone in 2012.

His versatility as an artist is unparalleled.  In 2018, deadmau5 shifted mediums and released his first ever orchestral album titled where’s the drop?. Additionally, deadmau5 made his film composing debut in the 2019 Netflix thriller Polar. Its soundtrack was released on mau5trap.

deadmau5 has also established a strong presence in the gaming landscape. Most recently, he headlined Epic Games’ Fortnite Party Royale Premiere in-game concert in May 2020. Players watched his performance on a virtual main stage set on a beach, and their avatars had the ability to jump on launch pads, race boats, go fishing, drive dune buggies, interact with friends, and more. He regularly competes in professional tournaments against leading players such as DrDisrespect, and his likeness appears as a playable avatar in games such as DJ Hero 2, Goat Simulator, and the mobile app Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff. His music has been featured in many major titles including DJ Hero 2 and Dota 2.

Music agent Cheryl Paglierani and Co-Heads of Electronic Music, Kevin Gimble and Steve Gordon, will be representing deadmau5 in the live music space. He continues to be represented by SEVEN20 and attorney Dina LaPolt.
