Welsh Indie-Pop Quartet Kidsmoke Share Dreamy Guitar-Pop Anthem ‘Layla’s Love’
Kidsmoke have been busy so far in 2020, gearing up for their debut full-length A Vision In The Dark on June 19th. Following on from their single The Bluest You, the band just dropped their breezy track Layla’s Love on June 5th via Libertino Records.
This new road-trip worthy number creates an uplifting summery atmosphere, with its delightful guitar hooks and blissful melodies. Layla’s Love is a retrospective story of a relationship, where one partner begins to dwell upon the many ‘what ifs?’ we all face. Ultimately, the main character comes to terms with the fact that they’re now a better person because of the relationship and that’s something they’ll never lose.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Lance tells us: “I’m a big fan of Prefab Sprout and love the way they utilise the male/female vocals; a dream-like section, when the main character is having an imaginary conversation with ‘Layla’ is my favourite moment on the album.”
Discussing the creative process behind the new track, guitarist and vocalist Sophie went on to say: “Layla’s Love took a little longer to come together than some of our other tracks. We were being pretty ambitious with the arrangement in the studio and wanted to make sure we got it perfect, as we knew it would be worth it if we nailed it.”
The new project follows on from an action-packed 2019, which saw Kidsmoke accumulate a monumental list of credits; including showcasing for FOCUS Wales Festival at SXSW in Austin, Texas. The band’s uplifting track Passenger was chosen for NPR’S Austin 100 playlist, and has since featured on E4’s ‘Made In Chelsea’, alongside single Rising Sun. This continued the great run of form for Kidsmoke, who secured a sync on Netflix’s Black Mirror with their track Take Me to the River.
