Zach Tabori On His New EP “Ensemble,” Zappa Influences, Working With Jaden Smith & More

Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and film composer Zach Tabori is truly a unique artist these days. His music is genre-less, well-crafted and complex yet accessible. Yet the Los Angeles-based musician also manages to find time to work with other artists, as his credits also include Jaden Smith– for whom he co-wrote tracks and played guitar for on the Erys album — and the Cannes Film Festival-contending short film Midnight. He is both prolific and detail-oriented, which is a rarity.

The latest release from Zach Tabori is the Ensemble EP. Comprised of four tracks (“Lately It Feels Better Than Alright,” “Slick,” “Buy My Shirt” and “Lick”), the EP incorporates rock, funk, jazz and cabaret alike. Tabori had one of his heroes, Frank Zappa keyboardist/vocalist Tommy Mars, to play on Ensemble.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Zach Tabori about Ensemble and plenty more via Zoom on June 8, 2020. That interview is embedded below along with some musical gems penned by Tabori. More on the rising artist can be found online by visiting his website: www.zachtabori.com.
