Dan Duminy’s Hugely Anticipated Influencer-Turned-Artist Entry in the Music World

He released his first single called “Vision” a couple of months ago, and he previously was a super-young professional racing driver for 11 years. Born on February 16th, 2001, Dan Duminy got mesmerized by the world of music when he was shooting and editing online content for artists such as Nasty‌ ‌C,‌ ‌Rowlene,‌ ‌and Tellaman. With his song becoming popular via TikTok and other social media, he translates this hype into creativity, currently being on the radar of fans, critics, and insiders.

‘Poetic’ rap like that created by legend 2Pac is a driving force in whatever he does. Whether it comes from a guitar, or drums, or other instruments, music has to express himself. Nasty C was among the artists who advised Dan on how to manage his creativity while artists like KOTA the friend, and Roddy Ricch became prime sources of inspiration. He first performed as Justin Bieber in the first grade – he had a similar hairstyle at the time – in a school play, which was just the trigger for his music obsession.

He didn’t dive into such a career immediately; it was too early for him. Yet by late 2018, he knew that he was retiring from racing to play with sounds. Perfect timing is a critical factor. While working hard to follow an international racing career, the Audi Sport TT Cup, he was training for, got liquidated and canceled. To him, it was God showing him the path towards music, which makes him happy today. Born in South Africa and still a teenager, he moved from the city of Durban to LA to find a place in the American market, initially behind the camera for other artists, evolving into a seasoned creative in his own right. In less than a year, his Instagram followers took off from 33K to 200K, and this seems to be just the beginning.

Dan has a great team of industry insiders, helping him with decisions beyond creativity, such as which song to put out there first, and which one will come after. Besides being strategic, he knows that he also has to be resourceful, dedicating sufficient energy and time to each production, responding to an audience with increased expectations. Still, he doesn’t shy away from that.  Singing American songs in a quite special South African accent, he personalizes his artistic expression and performance, claiming a unique spot in the music industry.

Favorite artists he lately aspires to be partnering with include Nasty C, KOTA the friend, Lil Mosey, The Kid Laroi, and Lil Tecca. Dan believes that a world tour as his ‘thank you’ note to his loyal fans and followers is within the realm of possibility. His EP is already in the making, and a 12-song album will be released around the beginning of 2021.

He believes that everything is possible when you love what you are doing. Real songs are those that affect and inspire many people, exposing a piece of the artist’s psyche. ‌Newbies in the music game can surely get inspired by this confident and goal-oriented teenager. We are all looking forward to an explosion of creativity as a result of Dan’s collaboration with Sony producer Niyi “Synematik.”
