On Jewels, KEYUNTAE showcases his Classic southern flow and no-frills lyricism — one that lures listeners into a nostalgic world where hip-hop and soul collide to conjure dope memories of riding through your hood on a Summer day.  In just seven tracks, the North Carolina-born creative transforms into a musical powerhouse, delivering deep lyrics and powerful beats that describe his realities as a Black man in America.

Nostalgic beats and iconic samples create a meaningful backdrop for a journey into the world of this eclectic lyricist.  Throughout Jewels,Keyuntae unleashes powerful, unapologetic bars that celebrate our past experiences, anticipate a better tomorrow, and tackle the current trials of contemporary society.

Themes include: unpacking the experiences of the Black man in America (Burn), the dichotomy of Black advancement (Can I?), overcoming depression with manifestation (Faith), identifying fake friendships (Drift Away), reminiscing college friendships (Imani’s Interlude Pt. 2), harnessing your power and talent (Incipient)  and the benefits and burdens of being self-critical (Worst Enemy).  In all, Jewels is a powerful manifesto of independence and refreshing and relatable declaration of perseverance.

Speaking on the project, Keyuntae states, “I wanted to create a body of work that, in all, presented my growth as a Black man, put a spotlight on the authentic experiences and issues of Black people and captured the energy and spirit of the music that empowers the Black community.”
