S1 Releases ‘Rockstar Diva’ Featuring Peter Xan

Produced by Chucks (Young Tory, M Huncho, Yxng Bane) and accompanied by a casino-themed video shot by Above Ground (6LACK, Octavian, Sam Wise), ‘Rockstar Diva’ serves as the launch of S1’s rebrand where he consolidates his new sound and switches up his whole look, laying a solid foundation for the release of his upcoming mixtape ‘Split Personality’ next month.

Since signing with Disturbing London in 2019, S1 has been preparing to release his long-awaited and eagerly anticipated debut mixtape ‘Split Personality’. Never one to be restricted in his art, S1’s ‘Split Personality’ mixtape houses a slight departure from his usual sound alongside the vibrant energy that he has become synonymous with, further illuminating his visionary attitude to his music and the multifaceted forms it takes. Reflecting on his past experiences and documented hardships, plus the reactions they provoked, and the impact each of them had on his persona, the manifestation of each track has respectfully come to fruition. Taken from the mixtape, ‘Rockstar Diva’ is an insight into the highlife. S1 and Peter Xan detail life in the fast lane, that ‘sex, drugs, and rock and roll’ type of stardom that so many artists aspire to reach. Fuelled with quick double-time delivery, hard-hitting basslines and ‘rockstar’ guitar samples, this track is born from S1’s party-lover persona.

Emerging from west London and making his roots in the drill scene, S1 has stretched his sound to incorporate melodic elements to accompany his razor-sharp rhymes. With over 5 million streams and 156k followers on Instagram, S1’s profile and accolades have become somewhat unmissable to tastemakers and music lovers who have repeatedly pipped him as ‘one to watch’, ‘next to blow’ and ‘most rated’. Ironically, he is self-titled as ‘S1 Most Hated’, yet his rapid ascent to stardom would certainly suggest otherwise with plaudits from the likes of Viper Magazine also challenging the title by praising his charm and determination as an artist “to emit real emotion and energy”.

Born to Jamaican and Spanish parents, S1’s life has been a tumultuous rollercoaster leading him to the salvage he found in music. Placed in care just before his teenage years, and living a life within the system, he found himself homeless at a young age. Rather than stick on the hand that he was dealt, S1 discovered his musical capabilities, quickly coming to attention in the drill scene and has been driven by an intense desire to succeed ever since. Converting and channelling any negative energy in to productive, triumphant moments, S1’s story is one of inspiration and overcoming adversity.
