Who Is John O.?

Now let’s hop right into your latest single “Old Thing Back” — Tell me about this particular composition? How did it come to fruition?

It was a track I got, and with most songs for me if the track speaks to me I can vibe with it and that’s what it did…the beat and groove is so smooth and the hook is so catchy, it just spoke to me…and it made me feel a throwback vibe. That’s how it all came together.

“Old Thing Back” comes courtesy of your still forthcoming new solo collection, Lawton: Tha New Chapter— Conceptually, what does that title represent both to and for you?

It’s just where I live right now; it’s not a lot going on here, so this is my big up to the city of Lawton.

Any other specific details; i.e. favorite selection(s), producer(s) credit(s), cameo appearance(s) , etcetera, that you can reveal and / or divulge regarding upcoming said set at this particular point in time?

I don’t do the whole favorite thing…I love the album as a whole; to me all of it is good. As far as cameos, there are a few surprises I have but you will see when the project drops on October 8th!

Switching gears here, how has not only the industry itself, but even more-so you as an individual, either changed and / or evolved since your whole inception into music?

The industry has changed a lot since I got in the biz…just look around!

Longevity, what do you attribute yours to?

Determination, and a love for what I do.

What do you want people to get from your music?

A better understanding of who I am.

Is there a hidden meaning / message in any of your music?

Nah, there is no hidden messages…I’m pretty straight forward when it comes to my music.

As a songwriter, where do you actually draw inspiration from?

My life; my kids, my family and women I have dated.

Please explain your overall creative process…

Like I said, when it comes to writing music I get a ton of beats and when I listen to them they speak to my soul…then I know what I have to do.

Do you have any other outside / additional aspirations, maybe even completely away from entertainment?

No…my whole life revolves around the entertainment field.

What has been your greatest career achievement(s), at least thus far anyway?

To be able to make music that I want.

What’s an average day like for you?

Pretty busy; I’m a single dad of a 5 year old…so it’s crazy!

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans…

I love them, and love connecting with them in person or online.

What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why?

I love performing and being in the studio creating, meeting the fans is nice as well…least favorite…typing out answers! (LOL)

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

Don’t make your own path.

And, lastly, what’s next for you, John?

Just releasing this album, and enjoying the process that comes along with that.

Is there anything I left out, or just plain forgot to mention?

Look out for the album, Lawton: Tha New Chapter, October 8th!
