Yo Gotti Unveils First Single as an Independent Artist “Recession Proof”
To coincide with Independence Day weekend, multiplatinum musician and entrepreneur Yo Gotti today released his first single as an independent artist – titled “Recession Proof” – via his now fully-independent music label CMG and it is now available to stream on all platforms.
“Recession Proof” marks a new chapter in Gotti’s career, considering it’s his first release since dropping his fourth and final album under Epic Records. Gotti’s new single is produced by multiplatinum producer Tay Keith.
Earlier this year, Gotti dropped his tenth, full-length studio album – Untrapped – in January 2020, which served as his first album release in three years. Untrapped, which peaked in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, included standout songs such as “Put A Date On It (feat Lil Baby),” “Pose (feat. Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Uzi Vert)” and “H.O.E. (Heaven on Earth).”
Six months later, Gotti is back with new music for the summer, ensuring that fans will not have to wait another prolonged period for his dynamic verses and spirited hooks.
With “Recession Proof,” Gotti celebrates his longevity in the music industry, his strategic business investments and the success of his CMG imprint, which boasts an impressive lineup of signed artists including 42 Dugg, Blac Youngsta and Lil Migo and helps manage MoneyBagg Yo and Blocboy JB. The CMG boss has plenty of reason to celebrate his label, considering 42 Dugg – in partnership with 4PF – is featured on the No. 1 song on Apple Music across all genres alongside Lil Baby for “We Paid.”
To date, Gotti has landed four consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200 with the gold-certified I Am (2013), gold-certified The Art of Hustle (2016), I Still Am (2017) and Untrapped (2020). Additionally, he’s released multiplatinum smashes like “Down in the DM” and “Rake It Up (feat. Nicki Minaj)” and has collaborated with fellow heavyweights such as Kanye West, J. Cole, Meek Mill and DJ Khaled, among many others.
