What city are you from/ Where are you based now?
I’m from Central Richmond, California. Still there.
What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?
I go by the name of 4toda5to (pronounced Fo-ta-da-sto) My real name is Dennis Wayne Robinson Jr. It comes from the section in the city I was raised in. I grew up between 4th and 7th & Pennsylvania. One of our neighborhood stores is on 7th street hence the name 4toda5to.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music?
I’ve been messing around with music since I was about 15 or 16. I started taking things serious when my brother came home from prison in 2018. We’ve been grindin’ ever since.
Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?
Hell yeah, most definitely. I rap about what I’ve been through. The only story I feel right about sharing is mine. I grew up in a tough city that forces you to learn things on the job. Trial and error. It sucks though because that one error can mean you freedom and or your life. You get some of everything in Richmond. So I feel that those elements help shape my sound. To be honest though, I feel like I’m still finding out my sound. Which is dope because I’m not locked into one lane or vibe.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
Right now, I’ll say my sound is a reflection of my environment because this is where I’m at in life right now. I rap about reality. I have an “in your face” reality sound.
