Imagine this!
A couple argues at their cocktail party and abruptly ends the festivities, they and their guests decide to recreate the entire night, again and again, to determine who was right. Get ready for THE ARGUMENT, the third feature film from Robert Schwartzman (Dreamland, The Unicorn) starring Dan Fogler, Emma Bell, Danny Pudi, Maggie Q, Cleopatra Coleman and Tyler James Williams, with Charlotte McKinney, Karan Brar, Marielle Scott, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Mark Ryder rounding out the cast. The all-new comedy film is releasing in theaters and on-demand from September 4th, courtesy of Gravitas Ventures.
The story in a nutshell
Jack loves his girlfriend Lisa. And he’s especially proud of her tonight, the last night of a theater production in which Lisa played a lead role. To celebrate her success, Jack arranges a cocktail party at the apartment they share.
But it’s a rocky night. It seems to Jack that one of the guests, the athletic and confident Paul, is too flirtatious with Lisa. And it doesn’t help that Paul starred alongside Lisa in the play and that they obviously share some type of history.
Maybe Jack has good reason to be jealous. Or maybe he’s projecting his own insecurities due to his failed film career. Either way, Jack finally explodes and yells at Lisa in front of everyone. Later, Jack privately justifies his outburst by accusing Lisa of having mocked him throughout the evening, but Lisa says she did no such thing. At an impasse, it seems that their relationship is in jeopardy.
They decide that there’s only one way to decide what really happened: They must recreate the entire evening exactly as it was.
Of course, this attempt ends in failure. But with the stakes so high, they try again and again, night after night. Finally, Jack takes the absurd step of hiring actual actors to recreate the evening. But far from facilitating understanding, the presence of a group of oddly chosen proxies only increases the confusion.
