Hip-Hop Duo They Hate Change Release New Five Track EP 666 Central Ave.

Today, rising Tampa Bay-based hip-hop duo They Hate Change release their debut EP ‘666 Central Ave.’ on LA-based label Godmode. Formed nearly eight years ago, Vonne and Dre (John Harrison and Andre Gainey), deliver another representation of work that is creatively abstract and genre-bending. The duo have cultivated their own style and have come to be known for combining old-school sampling and cipher-style rapping in a way that is both experimental and engaging for its listeners. The pair have taken influence from a variety of styles including both rap and ambient music and enjoy finding the balance in making these genres intersect.

The first single to be released from the EP was “Stunt Cams”, a track with hard-hitting verses laid over a steady beat and experimental sounds. The standout track “Day Ones” follows with a feature from Baltimore synthpop artist Pale Spring. Pale Spring’s soft and soothing vocals provide a noteworthy juxtaposition to the higher energy verses from They Hate Change that surround them. “Burn My Shit” is another track that turns up the energy while offering an old-school stylistic tone. The fourth track, “Screwface”, tops off a futuristic sounding beat with some fast-flowing bars from the duo pushing the pace along quickly. The EP finishes off with “Ozone”, alluding to the ambient influence They Hate Change employs in their music.

The duo are poised for continued success, joining a strong Godmode roster that includes talented names like Channel Tres, JPEGMAFIA, LoveLeo, and Yaeji. Keep an eye on They Hate Change as they look to make waves in 2020 and beyond.
