IMPACT Wrestling Star Rohit Raju On Becoming X Division Champion, Music, Gaming & More

IMPACT Wrestling has been in the news a lot lately, especially with its recent Slammiversary pay-per-view revealing some big new signings to the company. Among those big signing announcements from the week of Slammiversary were The Good Brothers (“Machine Gun” Karl Anderson and “The Big LG” Doc Gallows), Brian Myers, EC3, Eric Young and Heath Miller, all of whom prior wrestling champions. Meanwhile, IMPACT itself — which airs on Tuesday nights at 8:00 PM EST / 7:00 PM CST, as followed by the IMPACT in 60 program each week — is regularly the highest-rated show on AXS TV.

One of IMPACT Wrestling’s notable stars is Rohit Raju. Long associated with the Desi Hit Squad, Raju made his televised IMPACT debut on the May 11, 2017 episode of the IMPACT! show. That same year, he was the winner of IMPACT’s Global Forged competition. Things recently picked up for Raju when he won IMPACT’s X Division Championship earlier this week from Chris Bey as part of a triple-threat match alongside TJ Perkins; Perkins was interviewed by The Hype Magazine last week.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Rohit Raju by phone on August 20, 2020 about the following topics and plenty more, as embedded below for your listening pleasure:
– Becoming IMPACT’s X Division Champion about 3 months after becoming a singles competitor
– The ups and downs of being a wrestling, but why he enjoys work for IMPACT Wrestling
– Michigan’s history of producing great professional wrestlings
– Hobbies outside of wrestling (e.g. gaming, movies, music)
– Favorite musical artists (e.g. Wu-Tang Clan, Slayer)
– Whether he is aware of the Judgment Night soundtrack
– Advice for anything thinking of pursuing a career in wrestling
