Joyce Muniz Returns to Desert Hearts with Stimulating EP, ‘Deeper The Soul’

The saga of Joyce Muniz and Desert Hearts continues today with the release of ‘Deeper The Soul’—featuring remixes by fellow electronic veterans Huxley and Lubelski.

Joyce crafts an invigorating single in ‘Deeper The Soul,’ made even more so by the mantric vocals of  G.Rizo. It quickly engages the listener thanks to its simple, yet earworm of an analog synth progression. This progression, paired with the complementary verses by Rizo, lend a mysterious, entrancing energy to the tune.

Huxley and Lubelski each put their own unique touch on the original. Per his usual driving, minimal-leaning aesthetic, Lubelski re-works the track into a heads-down dancefloor number suited for the afterhours—all while maintaining its cornerstone elements. Huxley reconstructs ‘Deeper The Soul’ from the ground up, however, sacrificing the hook in favor quirky sound effects, prominent breakdowns, and growling synths accented with various filters. The UK artist’s rendition was made for the club, though we reckon there will be plenty of rugs being cut to it until it’s safe to properly party again.

Though Muniz has been a staple in the underground dance realm for over two decades by now, the past few years in particular have seen a meteoric rise in her career. Last year, she launched her own label, Black Diamonds. Her records have also landed on the likes of Poker Flat, Exploited, Pets, and more.
