Kam Krzy Talks About The Origin of His Name, Life in Sacramento and His Recent Single “Clouds”
Kam Krzy was born in Oakland, Calif. after moving around a lot in the Bay Area then attended school at Sacramento State. Kam’s musical journey started in 2017 and due to his extraordinary style and eccentric lyrics, he embodied and embraced his fitting nickname :” Kam Krzy”. Kam Krzy’s Chart Topping song “Wasted City” was released Feb. 2019 and peaked at number one on Reverb Nation’s. Hip-Hop Charts for Sacramento. The Wasted City music video was released through Vevo. Kam’s recent single “Clouds” has a rhythmic vibe with a visual that is sure to catch your attention.
Hype: What’s your name and where you from?:
Kam Krzy: I was born in Oakland, CA later moved to Milpitas, CA and attended College at Sacramento State.
Hype: What inspired your artist name? And where did you get the name from?
Kam Krzy: The name Kam Krzy is mixture of my name and an acronym “Keep Rising toward Zenith Year”.
Hype: Why did you move to where you currently live?
Kam Krzy: I came out here for school. I attended Sacramento State
Hype: How would you describe your sound/style?
Kam Krzy: My sound/style is a unique mixture of party and chill vibes?
Hype: Do you also write, produce, and/or engineer your own music?
Kam Krzy: Yes. I write my own music.
Hype: Do you have any other special talents, such as acting, etc.?
Kam Krzy: I designed my own clothing line and I’m open to start acting.
Hype: When did you start doing music? And when did you start taking it seriously? Be as detailed as you’d like.
Kam Krzy: My father was a DJ/Radio personality in the bay area and I always had music around me. Everything from Morris Day, Sade, 2Pac, Too Short, and Ice Cube. I started taking music seriously in 2017. At this time I did a lot of soul searching and music definitely found me. It was the only way I knew how to express myself. My cousins have music labels and have been doing music for years and encouraged me to showcase and fine tune my talent. After I recorded my first song North Face, released under Gold & Gems Records, I knew this is where I was supposed to be.
Hype: When did you record your first record?
Kam Krzy: I recorded and my first single North Face in 2017.
Hype: Why music? Describe your passion.
Kam Krzy: Music was the only way I could express myself in a positive way, it keeps me out of trouble. I see it as a form of therapy. It’s something that God gifted to me. When I’m recording or writing it’s definitely a natural flow that takes over and allows me to express my soul.
Hype: Who/what inspires your sound/music?
Jam Krzy: Everyday life inspires me to write. I look forward to my experiences so I can put them in music and share with the world. The intention is to touch people through my work and help them get through life’s ups and downs. I want to let them see and know that anything is possible when you invest in yourself/passion.
Hype: Who is your motivation and why? (for example, parents, siblings, etc).
Kam Krzy: My family is my number one motivator. I do this to take care of my loved ones and to touch those that need inspiration.
Hype: Who are the top 3 artists that you currently look up to?
Kam Krzy: Kanye West, Drake, and Jay-Z.
Hype: What are your goals when it comes to your music career?
Kam Krzy: My goal is to have the top song on the billboard charts and to be the best artist on the planet.
Hype: What impact are you looking to make with your music? Who do you want to impact?
Kam Krzy: My intention is to make an impact by inspiring people to follow their dreams and encouraging people to follow their passion no matter what others say or think. This is intended for everyone. This will happen through my music.
Hype: Any life changing stories/incidents that impacted your music career, your decision to do music, your journey, etc?
Kam Krzy: When I was writing my first song I had my spiritual awakening in 2017. I was listening to beats in my living room and suddenly the music stopped. At that moment, I then had a connection with God that assured me that this is the right path. Since that moment in 2017, I’ve been in tune and use music as a way to express myself and channel my emotions. This not only impacted me but it shifted my life into a new direction.
Hype: In your opinion, what makes you stand out from other/current artists out there?
Kam Krzy: I’m true to myself and use music as my diary.
