KYRI – ‘Internet’

After the release of his brilliant singles ‘Red River’ and ‘Sanctuary’ earlier in the year, London-based KYRI has now returned with his brand new single ‘Internet’, lifted from his newly released EP ‘Waves’.

Much like his work to date, ‘Internet’ sees the artist looks to peer into the furthest reaches of his sonic aesthetic. Taking a smooth and supple piano tone and broadening it out with a rich and complex production, there is something tragically beautiful about his writing on here. While there is obviously a raw and passionate feeling throughout the release, we almost get to see him fully expose his feelings here, making for a wonderfully engaging listen.

Speaking about the new single and his EP, he said, “My debut EP ‘Waves’ is a bittersweet, personal collection of songs about waves of water, sound, electricity, energy, emotion, pain, hope, healing & change.

In ‘Internet’, I wanted to explore my generation’s relationship with the internet and its effects on our mental & emotional health/wellbeing. In these crazy dystopian times we find ourselves in, we’re pouring more and more of ourselves into social media than ever before. I think we’ve created such a ‘worship-like culture’ with online popularity which can really mess with the ego, so It was fun to run with this idea in a tongue & cheek, dark, more avant-garde kind of way.”
