Houston Texas Native Jai1 Drops ‘Black Power’

Courtesy of Jai1

Jai1 is a hip-hop artist hailing from Houston, Texas. His musical journey began when he was scrambling to pay his way through college in which he channeled his frustrations through writing. Then, Jai1 began to practice his freestyle rap in his college café, word quickly spread about his endowment for his music. He became the college ‘rap guy’, and started doing his rap for many important events for his school. With his newfound love and talent for rapping, Jai1 began to use his music as a tool for social empowerment.

He is an artist who uses his music to talk about problems in his community and act as a representative for the marginalized demographic in his society. As a working class graduate who has experienced overwhelming debt and social struggle, Jai1 is now making music that reflects his experience and that of those close to him. A true visionary of his contemporaries. Like contemporary artists such as Chance the Rapper and Kendrick Lamar, Jai1 is making his mark with his ideas, speech, and social work

Black Power is the culmination of a frustrated culture that feels marginalized, underappreciated, undervalued, and disturbed and tired of unjust treatment from those meant to protect and serve.  This song serves as an anthem of empowerment while informing those that issues do still survive to this day. Black Power calls for unity while challenging the condition quo.
