Montblanc Releases Two New Watches to Their Blue 1858 Family

Montblanc just released two new watches to their blue 1858 family: the 1858 Automatic Chronograph and the 1858 Automatic. Both vintage sporty watches are inspired by the trend to reconnect to nature and Montblanc’s heritage. The new launches were created with Minvera’s design and product codes from their 1920’s and 30’s military chronographs and capture the blue themed watch capsule as a nod to the glaciers and snowy mountains.

Montblanc’s 1858 Automatic Chronograph ($4,500 USD)

This new Automatic Chronograph comes with a blue aesthetic combined with a new bi-directional steel bezel that has been enhanced with shiny blue ceramic and the four engraved luminescent cardinal points. The timepiece has been inspired by an original Minerva monopusher chronograph from the 1930’s. It showcases this striking vintage style with a blue smoked dial, cathedral-shaped hands, bi-compax counters at three and nine o’clock and a domed sapphire crystal. The 42 mm stainless steel case features both polished and satin finishes and has been engraved with the emblematic Mont Blanc mountain, a compass, and two crossed ice pick-axes, as a nod to the Spirit of Mountain Exploration. To complete the overall design, the Montblanc 1858 Automatic Chronograph is equipped with a blue Sfumato calf leather strap from the Pelletteria, in Florence, Italy and is water resistant to 100 meters.

Montblanc’s 1858 Automatic ($2,600 USD)

The 1858 Automatic is one of the purest vintage-inspired timepiece, featuring a blue theme across the dial, case and strap. The case has a new bi-directional steel bezel with a matching shiny blue ceramic and displays the four engraved luminescent cardinal points. Housed in a 40 mm stainless steel case with slim curved horns decorated with polished and satin-finishing, the 1858 Automatic watch unveils a unique picture of the Mont Blanc mountain that has been engraved on the case back, along with a compass and two crossed ice pick-axes, which further reinforce the spirit of mountain exploration and the iconic peak which inspired the founders of the Maison.  The timepiece is adorned with a matching blue Sfumato calf leather strap with white stitching coming from the Pelletteria, from Florence, Italy.
