Tate McRae hails from Calgary, Canada after living in Oman until she was 6 years old. McRae first made a name for herself as a competitive dancer placing second runner-up on Season 13 of the FOX series So You Think You Can Dance, achievibf the “The Best Dancer” honor three times at the prestigious Dance Awards, and hitting the stage for performances on Ellen, The Teen Choice Awards and beyond. McRae also lent her voice to Netflix’s animated Lalaloopsy in the role of “Spot Splatter Splash.”
On the musical end, last month Tate McRae received a nomination for an MTV Video Music Award for “Push Best New Artist.” In August she also released the music video “don’t be sad” via RCA Records. “don’t be sad” was written by McRae, Larzz Principato (Dua Lipa, Halsey) and Jeremy Dussolliet (Anthony Ramos) and is another step up in showcasing Tate’s personal songwriting abilities. Meanwhile, Tate’s prior single “you broke me first” currently has over 100 million streams worldwide and was playlisted via Spotify’s “Today’s Top Hits” and Apple’s “A-List Pop.” Both “you broke me first” and “vicious” will be featured on Tate’s upcoming EP for RCA, as due out this fall.
