In the Spotlight: CEESAR, an Emerging Canadian Music Artist

Hundreds of aspiring musicians enter the music industry with high hopes and expectations. Some have to survive through a long and exhausting phase of the struggle; some are able to acquire a prominent standing in the industry within a short period, while others eventually give up. Among these aspiring artists with big dreams is CEESAR, who recently released his debut EP. He is an Ottawa-based music artist who stepped into the world of music just two years ago. An emerging artist on his way to discovering his music strengths has hit the music industry with his debut EP, “Hustle & Passion.” As per several media platforms, his EP is “a fresh mix of R&B and pop, with a trance-like vocal style.”

INSPIRATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS…

Inspiration – a driving factor that keeps one motivated throughout their journey, bringing individuals close to their destination – is a survival essential. Drawing inspiration from the right source is an essential element in life. It is a factor that helps people set their life goals, develop a vision in life, and plan out their journey. It is a way of embracing change, where an individual aspires to be a better version of themselves. One can source their inspiration from a person, place, or even an ideology.

The bottom line is, ‘to succeed; one needs to have inspiration.’ Passion, in combination with inspiration, help a person fulfill their lifegoals; one without the other will force an individual in a prolonged phase of struggle.

Drawing inspiration from Post Malone, Nelson Silva, who the world today knows as CEESAR, transitioned from the world of entrepreneurship to the music industry. He states, “To see anyone start from the bottom and overcome many obstacles all the way to the top, how can that not inspire you?” Even though he was a businessman, music was something that he felt connected to, and it was after Nelson heard Post Malone, he realized that he was not meant for the corporate sector.

When discussing his inspiration, he stated, “The artist that inspired me to get into music is Post Malone. I heard “White Iverson,” and it triggered me in a good way.” He further added, “It impacted me in a way that I wanted to share that same good feeling with as many people as I can just like I felt when I first heard that song. That was back in 2018, and I have never looked back.”

CEESAR is trying to set an example for all aspiring music artists who realized that music was something they wanted to pursue as a career a little late in life. He has, on multiple occasions, stressed the significance of inspiration. The 31-year-old Canadian-Portuguese musician has also addressed the struggling music artists, “Be careful who you surround yourself with.”

A STORY THAT MOTIVATES…

Born on September 27, 1989, in Ottawa, Nelson Silva is working to establish himself as a unique identity in music. What makes his story a source of motivation for all those music artists dreaming of making it big is the fact that he stepped into music after spending a significant part of his life in building a business.

After completing his Bachelor’s in Arts from Carleton University, Nelson started working to build his business. He set up a retail store to sell sports supplements. He later expanded his entrepreneurial portfolio and moved into eCommerce.

It was in 2018 when Nelson came across Post Malone’s “White Iverson” that he realized that it was music that he wanted to pursue. He wanted to help people feel the same degree of joy and happiness he felt when he first listened to this song.

Leaving his entrepreneurial success behind, Nelson started taking proper vocal training in February 2019 and made his debut with a single, “Day 2 Day,” under the name CEESAR. The release of his debut single established him as an emerging star among the local audience, but the word spread fast, bringing him an international audience. The next month, CEESAR released another single, “Drunk Textin’.” Both these songs brought him a wide audience.

He finally decided to make it big and released a six-track EP, “Hustle & Passion, on August 14, and in just a few months, the EP has won the hearts of millions of music lovers. The tracks that take this EP to such an esteemed position include “About You,” “Day 2 Day,” “I Need You,” “Make It,” “Druk Textin’,” and “All Me.” He combined his entrepreneurial skills with his music skills to release his EP.

His debut EP has established him as an emerging artist, one to look out for, “The production is slick, and the song is dynamic, with a vocal and lyrical style that’s addictive.” The way he has transitioned from the business world into the music industry is an inspiration for aspiring artists. He is spreading happiness and joy with his music while instilling hope among the young musicians. Serving as an example, CEESAR states, “Whatever path you’re walking, there’s a lot of little shiny objects that can distract you,…, but day-to-day, if you work on yourself, you have better chances of achieving your goals.”
