Jeff Richards On The New Comedy Podcast “The Jeff Richards Show,” Life After “SNL,” Music & More

A popular stand-up comic, voice actor and sketch-comedy performer, Jeff Richards first found mainstream success as a cast member on both Saturday Night Live and MADtv; he is 1 of only 2 performers to have been a featured cast member of both sketch-comedy programs. Within the stand-up realm, Jeff Richards has opened for Russell Peters, Chris Kattan, Andrew Dice Clay, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Louie Anderson and Andy Dick. In turn Richards — who has appeared as a guest on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast as well as on Aqua Teen Hunger Force — has a lot funny and talented friends.

Earlier this month, Richards announced the launch of an inventive, hilarious new podcast The Jeff Richards Show, which airs on all major podcast platforms. The premise of The Jeff Richards Show is that for each episode Richards is always mysteriously-absent for his own show and is replaced at the last minute by a celebrity replacement “guest host,” as played by Richards. Think Martin Short’s “Jiminy Glick” but with impressions. The first 5 episodes are already out and feature interviews with plenty of notables, including Punkie Johnson (who recently joined Saturday Night Live), legendary SNL cast member Darrell Hammond, Jamie Kennedy, Harland Williams and Bonnie McFarlane.

On October 13, 2020, I had the pleasure of interviewing Jeff Richards via Zoom, as embedded below. We spoke about The Jeff Richards Show and plenty more, including the methodology behind his top-notch impressions. More on Richards and The Jeff Richards Show is online via thejeffrichardsshow.com, instagram.com/thejeffrichardsshow and twitter.com/thejeffrichards.
