On October 9th Colson is releasing her powerful single entitled Tiffany’s accompanied by an in-studio video of her performing the song accompanied on a grand piano by Dylan Jackson Scott. We are sharing an exclusive first look at the video here just for you!

About the song Colson says, Tiffany’s’ is a song about redemption and finding your true self through toxicity in a previous relationship. As the song travels into the second half of the chorus, you realize what you’ve been longing for and what you deserve. It’s an age-old tale of going through hell to find out who you really are”.

Where did this extremely talented Chanteuse come from?! Here’s the official line:

As an extremely shy child, her mom decided to put her in an acting class to help her personal growth. Taylor started performing at 5 years old, and the acting class is what made her realize she had a love for performing. She started singing in broadway-style shows as a pre-teen and evolved into a full-fledged musical theater performer as a teenager. Growing up, her musical idols ranged from artists like Whitney Houston, Cher, and Barbara Streisand – to rocker Freddie Mercury of Queen.

Her creative journey progressed when she developed a following on Youtube through a number of videos of highly praised cover songs. The videos led to an opportunity to open several East Coast gigs for blackbear. She relocated to Los Angeles in 2017 and connected through mutual friends with Scott, who was a producer on Halsey’s first album, “Badlands’. In November of 2019, Colson played her first full-fledged solo shows in Europe, handpicked to open for lovelytheband by Mitchy Collins.

Taylor Colson made her official debut with a song entitled Hurt Me this past August and despite the title Colson manages to deposit the listener safely on the other side of a heartwrenching musical journey.

The Hype Magazine got Taylor to weigh in on a few things!

From the outside looking in, who is the artist Taylor Colson?

She’s as honest as someone could get. All she wants is to create magical stories to give to the world. She wants to share her heartbreak, battles, love stories, accomplishments and everything else you could possibly imagine. She wants to make an impact on the world and be an inspiration for all generations.  PS. I hate talking in third person but felt it was very necessary here…don’t expect it too much!!

Was there a defining moment that brought you to the music industry?

I always knew that I had an intense passion for music. When I was younger I was so shy and wouldn’t speak to anyone. My mom couldn’t even get me to play with other kids my age. She would have kids over for playdates and have to send them home because I wouldn’t talk or play with them! At the young age of 5, I got on stage for my first performance. Being on stage completely transformed me. I was a different person up there and had NO fear. I loved every second of it and knew that I had to be on stage forever. I had a lot of people tell me I couldn’t do it and when that happened, I knew that I had to. I think it’s so important to follow your dreams and do what you love, no matter what anyone tells you. I want to prove to everyone that has ever told me I can’t do this, that I can. And for the ones who do believe in me, I want to exceed their expectations.

What is most satisfying about making music for you?

It’s so therapeutic for me. Writing a song releases something inside of you that allows you to let go of what happened and realize that you were able to create something beautiful out of any situation. You then get to share that with others and hopefully help someone that has been through the same shit that you’ve been through. There’s nothing more special than when someone reaches out to me to tell me that they’ve had the same experience and that my music is what helped them get through it.

Tell us about your new single and video for ‘Tiffany’s’ that you are premiering with us – and what it means for you.

Tiffany’s’ is my personal favorite song. I was able to really say ‘fuck it, and pour my entire heart out. The message of the song is SO important. It starts out talking about losing yourself and not even recognizing who you are. Once it gets to the chorus, You’re able to take your power back and say well guess what, I eat my breakfast at Tiffany’s. Never let anyone take away your confidence and self-worth. Know that you are special for being YOU and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You are strong enough to walk away from a bad situation and you’ll come out stronger than you could possibly imagine – I promise!

Tell us the biggest surprise about the business side of the music business in your experience?

Honestly, I haven’t come across anything that has surprised me. It all feels like how I thought it would. I think the biggest misconception that people have is that things are an overnight success. It takes so much time and work.  Friends and family will say things like “why isn’t this huge?!” but they don’t really understand everything that goes into it because they aren’t in this business. I recently heard a story about an artist, that I look up to, being very upset because people were saying she was an overnight success when in reality she had been working at it for over 6 years. From the outside, it might seem like an overnight success, but in reality there was so much that has gone into making it happen.

What do you want people to get from your music?

That we are all constantly evolving as people and life is a journey. There will be trying times where you feel awful and empty and feel like it will never change. You will see that it doesn’t last and there are incredible times and experiences to be had. There will be love lost and new love found. I want my music to be an experience of transparency and hope. I want people to connect to it from their innermost core.

For new listeners, which of your songs would you pick as an introduction to best represent you: Your release ‘Hurt Me’ from earlier this year, or the new song ‘Tiffany’s’?

Both songs serve different purposes. ‘Hurt Me’ is more of an emotional, softer song about a relationship gone bad. ‘Tiffany’s’ is a melodramatic soulful realization of what that relationship did to me. I realized that I lost who I was, and in ‘Tiffany’s’ I reclaim my identity. The flow of the music emphasizes the powerful moments while providing a nostalgic, yet modern, bed of beautiful music for my vocals to live on. Listeners will learn something new about me, my voice, and my writing in every one of my songs.

Tell us a bit about your work and passions OUTSIDE of music…

I recently started a business called Golden Valley Vintage with a friend of mine where we sell vintage furniture and decor. Between sessions, photoshoots, interviews, performances, etc. I’m not able to have a regular job. This business allows me to do music on my time and terms. On top of the flexibility, I absolutely love doing it! I use the vintage pieces for photoshoots and even redesigned my manager’s office. I’ll put a little plug in here, follow @goldenvalleyvintage on Instagram!    I also love snuggling with my fur baby Tugboat (4 year old Yellow Lab) and binge watch TV shows. My recent obsessions have been Chicago PD and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Who is your dream collaboration?

My absolute dream collaboration would be with Lady Gaga. I think she is phenomenal in every way. I love how versatile she is and how she is not afraid to take risks. She’s a powerful woman in this industry and someone that I really admire. I look up to her honesty as an artist. I think our voices would complement each other and know we could do something really special together. ONE DAY, LADY G!

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” aka WTF?! moment…

Billie Eilish’s performance of ‘Bad Guy’ on SNL. I was in awe the entire time and couldn’t stop saying “WTF – how is she doing this?!”
