25 Gift Ideas For The 2020 Holiday Season You Can Order Online

Black Friday 2020 is just weeks away from this article’s publishing, so it is definitely not too early to be thinking about your holiday season shopping for this year. And going beyond this year’s unprecedented holiday season, it never hurts to have some gift ideas up your sleeve to show those in your life that you are warmly thinking of them. Below are timely 25 gift ideas — all immediately available for online-based ordering — of varying price points worth looking into for a loved one.

WearPanda Sunglasses

WearPanda’s bamboo sunglasses and watches are constructed from sustainable materials that are kind to the environment. But fashionability aside, WearPanda also gives back to those in need. The Today Show, Refinery29, USA Today, the American Music Awards and the U.S. Men’s Soccer team have all favorably featured WearPanda’s wares — as not only distributed in the States and through major online retailers but also in South Korea and the U.K. — also helping to show its widespread appeal.

Thomas Felice Watches

Wearing a watch every day provides that sense of unity in a way as we know time is a sense we all understand. Thomas Felice (pronounced “fuhl-EE-chai”) makes the watches that speak to your style and your personal story. It is one of the only watch companies that take the traditional hour and minute hands and redesigns them within custom themes. While these watches are fun to wear, make no mistake, they are sophisticated, quality-crafted pieces. Thus if your joy of wearing a watch comes down to quality, affordability and uniqueness all at once, this is the brand for you. The price range for all Thomas Felice watches is $155 and under, while Thomas Felice donates a portion of proceeds from your purchase to a charity of your choosing.

54 Celsius Candle

CandleCan is a true burning delicacy, humbly-served in a simple can. It is made from natural vegetable wax, spiced with subtle scents, handmade with chef-like care and packed for a 5-star experience. Among its interesting offerings are orange salmon (shaped like a salmon filet but smells like orange), vanilla egg (egg shaped, vanilla-scented), and mint beans (lima bean-shaped, smells like mint). Tim Burton fans ought to be blown away by the “spade” candle, whic is currently priced at $34.95.

Dear Ava’s Personalized Jewelry

Now is the time to strengthen our bonds with the people in our lives that make a difference, the people we love, the people we are thankful for, the people that we want to make smile. Dear Ava’s line of amazingly-considerate and exquisite personalized jewelry and spa gifts boxes epitomizes sincerity. Dear Ava ultimately eliminates the anxiety of choosing the right gift, and offers dozens of gorgeous ideas for just about every person in your life. The brand offers lovely options for all major holidays and milestones, even the ones that are not always so happy. Perhaps the best part of each and every Dear Ava gift is the eloquently written message that accompanies each item; a heartfelt note that is simple, kind and uplifting, often something that can be hard for people to convey.

One of Dear Ava’s great offerings is its Nurse Spa Gift Box, as priced at $42.00. Included is 1 Tranquil Lavender Soy Wax Candle, 1 Peppermint-Shea Lip Balm, 1 Lavender Natural Castile Soap, 1 Relaxing Rose Petal Bath Bomb, 1 Uplifting Orange Bath Bomb, 1 Heartfelt Greeting Card and 1 Engraved Wood Heart with an Inspirational Message. The Best Friends Necklace, priced at $39.00, is also fantastic. With that necklace you can show your appreciation for your closest friends with these interlocking circles symbolizing your everlasting bond.

Shinesty

Shinesty is a stand-out apparel company for a variety of reasons. Not only does it make entertaining and visually-grabbing garb that will get people talking, but the Colorado fashion powerhouse warmly — and refreshingly — encourages everyday people to “stay weird.” Shinesty makes attire for all sorts of ages, genders, holidays and climates, yet each piece it designs manages to be on-brand and fun.

I had the pleasure of doing Q&A with Shinesty CEO Chris White in November 2019 about the past, present and future of Shinesty for The Hype, which I have hyperlinked. Full disclosure: I wore Shinesty’s “Pac-Mac Waka Waka” suit I wore to my wedding a few years back. Those seeking more holiday-themed fare ought to check out the new-ish Christmas Pajamas Collection: www.shinesty.com/collections/christmas-pajamas.

Rayz Pro Earphone

Pioneer Rayz Pro are smart noise-cancelling earbuds powered by what is reportedly the world’s most advanced app-driven personalized audio technology. Rayz Pro includes both Lightning and USB-C adapters for universal compatibility with iOS devices, Android devices, laptops, and Nintendo Switch, along with a premium travel case. They have listen and charge technology, and come with 3 sets of Comply foam eartips for guaranteed fit and comfort. A customizable “smart button” and auto pause when crossing the street or talking to people are just some of the features of these earbuds. I have found them very useful for a variety of functions, including phone call functions, listening to music while working, and long walks; I have yet to experience the Pioneer Rayz Pro earbuds as part of a workout, but word is that they are great for that as well.

Ekster Wallets

After raising over $1,000,000 in its previous crowd-funding campaign, Ekster — the world’s largest “smart wallet” brand — has launched its third-generation product line. This time they have engineered both the slimmest and the first voice-activated smart wallet to date. Owners can now ring their wallet, find it on a map or even make use of the widespread Chipolo community to help locate their missing belongings. These RFID-blocking wallets are held together by handcrafted premium leather for a luxury look and feel and provide instant card access at the click of a button. They are also compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Ekster’s solar technology is now even being implemented by major global shipping companies like Fedex to track containers. Last year’s limited-edition Metro 52 line was absolutely worth looking into. This year I had the pleaseure of trying out Ekster’s Aluminum Cardholder and remain impressed with the brand.

The 2020 Cognitive Test Person Woman Man Camera TV Card Game

Prepare to be “cognitively tested” just as the 45th POTUS was. This frenzied, card-slamming political satire game is now available and will bring much needed laugh-out-loud fun to homes everywhere. Brilliantly-illustrated by political cartoonist Phil Hands, each card in the 72-card deck is a collectible drawing highlighting Tweeting, The Wall, Law & Order, Fake News, politicians from both sides of the aisle, and other Trump-related viral phrases and events of 2020. “Person Woman Man Camera TV” must be repeated in the right order or players with find themselves acting out the crazy happenings of 2020, including Corona, Kanye and Tiger King. The $20 card box-sized game is available via https://tremendous.games and Amazon.

Nixon’s New Bandit Bag

Last month Nixon released a limited-edition capsule collection. The capsule features Nixon’s new Bandit bag, along with its Showoff wallet, both featuring a pattern of Japanese Cherry Blossoms and catfish from his home state of Florida. The new Bandit has a purposeful tri-strap design that keeps essentials within sight and in place during travel and exploration. A quick-release buckle allows easy removal for setting it down or when it’s time to sit down. Loaded with internal and external zippered pockets, and internal organizers and slip pockets so even the smallest items are within quick reach. Meanwhile, Nixon’s Showoff bi-fold wallet has been a favorite in their collection for some time, featuring multiple card pockets and an oversized ID window. Both the Bandit and Showoff are made from REPREVE Our Ocean fiber, which takes ocean-bound bottles and gives them new life in gear built to last.

This capsule collection was notably a collaboration with Zion Wright, who had his eyes set on competing in skateboarding’s Olympic debut as a part of USA Skateboarding. Wright and his journey towards Olympic excellent can be followed on Instagram via @zionwright.

RotoShovel

RotoShovel is a cordless, electric drill shovel meant for homeowners and DIY gardeners alike. It works just like a drill for your dirt. and it also happens to be the world’s first lithium-ion battery-powered automatic handheld shovel with an auger. It essentially reinvents “the shovel” and takes the work out of gardening and landscaping. Thus, RotoShovel is perfect for scooping and planting bulbs, flowers, or veggies, digging holes for signs and posts, and installing small trees and shrubs. It can be purchased in stores, via Amazon and through The Grommet.

Florsheim Shoes

In 1892 Florsheim Shoes started in a small factory in Chicago, Illinois. The brand has grown quite a bit since then and have gained a reputation for being at the forefront of the newest trends, while staying true to its legacy of classic styling and quality workmanship. From material selection to stitching, Florsheim is known to pay attention to the smallest of details. Which is why Florsheim has become one of my go-to brands for footwear.

The Florsheim Sorrento Plain Toe Chukka Boot has a lot of people talking. Wearable with everything from a suit to jeans, these shoes are comfortable, cushioned and sleek-looking. Meanwhile, Florsheim’s Highland Plain Toe Chukka Boot is also versatile, featuring hand burnishing on the leather upper, a sleek silhouette, and a modern stacked heel.

UNTUCKit

UNTUCKit started in 2010 when founder Chris Riccobono first created the Original Untucked Shirt. In 2011, he brought on Aaron Sanandres — a classmate from Columbia University — to help him develop the idea into a stand alone business. UNTUCKit opened its first store in 2015 in the New York City neighborhood known as SoHo, and since then they have employed more than 700 people across 70+ stores in North America, as well as its New York headquarters.

The flannels of UNTUCKit come from fine cotton, as brushed to perfection, and of course they have that just-right untucked length. If uncertain of your ideal flannel-related sizing, you can find your “UNTUCKit Fit” via the new “UNTUCKit Fit Finder” on the brand’s website: www.untuckit.com/pages/find-your-fit.

Quentin Tarantino x Lucie Kaas Kokeshi Dolls

Lucie Kaas is a Denmark-based brand, as known for its popular Kokeshi Dolls, which are a traditional Japanese wooden doll with no arms or legs. The brand has worked with style icons such as Elton John, Tommie Smith and Karl Lagerfeld. Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is the latest high-profile collaborator of the Lucie Kaas brand, as Tarantino’s distinctive career of course ushered unforgettable characters onto the screen and into Hollywood history. In turn, Tarantino’s 8 most iconic characters have been given the Lucie Kaas treatment; this includes characters from the masterworks Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Kill Bill.

The Vincent Vega doll — the contract killer for Marsellus Wallace, as portrayed by John Travolta — proudly stands on my bookshelf at home. In other words, the work of both Lucie Kaas and Quentin Tarantino is one of the first things you see when you walk through my front door. And damn proud of it. I look forward to see which artist Lucie Kaas chooses to collaborate with next.

Our treat came early this year! 🎃👻 Thanks to Elite Daily for featuring one of Spoken Flames' top-selling Solo Candles as…

Spoken Flames Candles

Shavaun Christian was an advertising creative for over a decade, where she executed award-winning creative campaigns across traditional and digital media for global brands such as Ben & Jerry’s, Pepperidge Farm, United Airlines and GSK. In 2016, Christian started her own creative agency, essy & jo, where she focused on brand development, design and digital media directly with small businesses and global brands across the U.S., Middle East and Asia, overseeing on-site creative productions in Singapore, Belgium and Montreal. To help combat overwhelming work stress, Christian returned to her childhood, craft-making roots and took up candle-making as a sense of escape and a practice of restorative self-care. The candles she lit in her home felt passive and impersonal which led her to want more, inspiring her to create Spoken Flames and reimagine candles as a more immersive experience with a bespoke scent, scene and sound with positive and affirming messages for each candle.

Spoken Flames candles are handcrafted in Brooklyn, New York and made with unique scent blends created by master perfumers, and wooden wicks that produce a crackling sound when lit. Scents include Focused (affirming your steadfast pursuit of success, and is matched with a grounding, soothing blend of vanilla and sandalwood, and a hint of eucalyptus, to evoke calm and encourage clarity), Fearless (boosting your mood so you can take on anything full of courage, and is matched with a bold fusion of orange peel, clove and cedarwood), and Favored (ratifying your talent and triumph, and is matched with a scent blend of abundant florals like ylang ylang, jasmine and geranium to evoke joy). Spoken Flames candles — priced at $34 for Solo Candles and $89 for Trio Sets — are available online at www.spokenflames.com with nationwide shipping and at boutique retailers in New York City, including Ethel’s Club, MAISON 10 and Dough Marketplace.

In turn, Thompson Tees are perfect to wear while traveling, at work, working out, and outdoors. More than 1 million of these shirts have been sold, and they are available in a variety of styles, colors and fits.

Thompson Tee is also doing its part to manufacture face masks and donate to hospitals and healthcare workers in need. These masks are reusable, washable and are made with premium breathable, soft cotton and fit the CDC’s cloth mask recommendations. Thompson Tee has exceeded its goal to donate 15,000 masks to hospitals in need, already having donated more than 30,000 face masks. More information can be found via www.thompsontee.com, while its shirts — starting at $27 — are also available on Amazon.

Florabrook’s Floral Offerings

Caroline “Flora” Lahti grew up in the woods in upstate New York. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Lahti knew she someday wanted to own her own business. Florabrook is that company, and it is now over 5 years old. Thanks to the fine folks at Credit Karma — who recently hosted anvirtual Sleigh Your Holiday seminar in which viewers were showed how to have a glorious holiday season on a budget — I had the pleasure of learning more about Florabrook; caterer and party-maker Annie Campbell and the Cocktail Academy’s founder Matt Lander were also onboard for this event. Especially striking from Florabrook’s online store is its Pot Of Gold Forever Bouquet. Priced at $100.00, you can expect a beautiful mix of rainbow colored dried flowers. Florabrook also has wonderful wreathes, dream catchers and winter-oriented clothing for sale.

Broadway Basketeers’ Award-Winning Baskets

Broadway Basketeers is known for making gift baskets for all occasions where gift-giving is the norm. Earlier this year I had the pleasure of experiencing its Merlot Wine Basket, which featured an impressive array of chocolates, caramels and other candies and was complemented with a range of salty snacks within this basket. That grand bundle of treats is paired wonderfully with a bold, dry, kosher-certified red wine that ought to delight the senses as cherry and vanilla roll off the tongue with every sip. More recently I experienced the company’s Classic Favorites Gift Basket. This one offered a gourmet selection of the finest snacks and treats including, Lindt truffles, caramel popcorn, butterscotch flavored candy, cappuccino chocolate chip cookies, and Brownie Brittle. For those not interested in wine and/or chocolate, Broadway Basketeers has gourmet offerings related to cookies, cakes, flowers, fruit and spas, as the retailer has a specific “Kosher Gifts” section.

Carvel’s Ice Cream Cakes

This holiday season will look VERY different than in years’ past, with more people staying home and smaller gatherings planned. But dessert sales, including ice cream, across America are booming. For families looking to add more “sweet” touches to their meals without a ton of prep, I Love Ice Cream Cakes has the country’s largest variety of ice cream cakes, sure to bring more smiles to every occasion. As found in major grocery stores, there ought to be some great Carvel-related offerings in a supermarket near you. This may include the Carvel Snowman Ice Cream Cake (if “Frosty” had a favorite dessert, it may be this one), the Carvel Turkey Ice Cream Cake (if you mess up the turkey, you ought to be thankful you have this guy as a backup), and the Carvel Gameball Ice Cream Cake (the football stadiums might not be full, but your plate can be with exciting, themed gameday food, like this football-shaped ice cream cake covered in delicious chocolate crunchies and whipped frosting). Coupons are currently available through the I Love Ice Cream Cakes website at www.iloveicecreamcakes.com/coupons.

NICESTUFF Clothing

Founded by a New York-based team with over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry, NICESTUFF was designed to fill an important niche in men’s fashion: unsurpassed comfort without the sacrifice of looking smart. In other words, men are assumed to want to feel comfortable AND look nice, and NICESTUFF meets those needs simultaneously as part of its mission. Its line of menswear includes button-down shirts, blazers and pants, meant to be as soft, supple and comfortable as wearing a t-shirt or sweatpants. As opposed to woven fabrics, which are known to be a bit rigid and firm, NICESTUFF’s wrinkle-resistant knit fabrics offer aesthetically-smooth finishes and a natural 4-way stretch, with a sense of structure for a smart look. Its ultra-comfortable knit buttondown shirts are made of 100 percent knitted mélange cotton, providing unmatched softness and breathability. Meanwhile, its tailored knit blazers and pants are made of knitted viscose and elastane, as designed for ultimate comfort, breathability and flexibility.

I had the pleasure of recently trying out one of NICESTUFF Clothing’s Long Sleeve Natural Performance Knit Button Down Shirts and must say that it lived up to the hype. Finished with a spread collar, French placket and break resistant buttons, this shirt allows for flexible end-use. It was slim fit, meaning that you may need to buy a size up when compared to other brands, but is sure to last a long time.

SensorPEDIC Oversized Luxury Extraordinaire Gel-Infused Memory Foam Pillow

The SensorPEDIC Luxury Extraordinaire Gusseted Memory Foam Pillow provides superior pressure relieving support and cooling comfort for a peaceful night’s sleep, courtesy of the advanced sleep technologies found in this pillow. This pillow features odor-free ventilated Sensor-FOAM Memory Foam, a CertiPUR-US Certified, super open-cell memory foam technology that does not sleep hot. It features a built-in iCOOL Technology System, helping to enhance one’s air flow along with the breathable, anti-stain, removable cover consisting of a triple-layer, circular-knit fabric. Thus, it has made sleeping easier and more comfortable to me. And let’s face it, is there a better gift that you can give someone than better sleep?

Charles Krug Winery’s Recent Offerings</strong>

Originally established in 1861, the Charles Krug Winery was purchased in 1943 by Cesare and Rosa Mondavi. Now close to 80 years later, Charles Krug is owned and operated by Cesare and Rosa’s grandchildren, Peter Jr. and Marc Mondavi. Earlier this year I had the pleasure of trying the brand’s 2016 Charles Krug Family Reserve Generations Red Wine, which was reportedly designed to honor the family’s past, present and future. It has aromas of black cherry, coffee bean, and blueberry with a long finish of ripe berry and toasty crème brûlée. It earned a 94+ rating from the October 2018 edition of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. The same vineyard also a popular offering via the Charles Krug 2018 Carneros Chardonnay.

More recently, I experienced the 2017 Charles Krug Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (priced at $39) and the 2018 Aperture Bordeaux Red Blend (priced at $55). The cab-sav is a picture-perfect example of affordable luxury—the winery’s estate-grown fruit and careful winemaking regiment results in rich black cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant flavors that precede hints of dried blueberry and cocoa. Lithe tannins and a hint of oak-imbued vanilla round out this one’s flavor pile. Meanwhile, the Bordeaux Red Blend is composed of one-third cabernet sauvignon, one-third merlot and expertly balanced by the remaining blend of Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This wine is composed of all hillside vineyards which helps to keep berry size down and concentration strong, and it was recently awarded by The Wine Advocate with a 96+ point rating. Both make for excellent gift ideas for a wine-drinker in your life.

JLAB Audio’s Epic Air Buds

Founded in 2005, JLab Audio is an award-winning designer of personal audio products including Bluetooth earbuds, headphones and speakers. Not only famous for its intuitive products with awesome sound for people on the move, JLab’s products are also renowned for coming with world-class customer support. JLab’s JBuds Air family of products have been called the “#1 True Wireless Earbud under $100.” Aside from being truly wireless via Bluetooth technology and in-ear comfort, expect up to 6 hours of usage on a single charge and sweat protection.

The new Epic Air Sport ANC (ear hook style) and Epic Air ANC (stem style) are true to JLab’s penchant for quality and exceptional battery life at an affordable price, but it is the app-enabled Smart ANC technology that you may find the most appealing. A small segment of consumers experience discomfort with current ANC technology — not just from JLab, but all brands — and even though it’s psychosomatic, the ear vacuum feeling they believe they experience can go so far as to create headaches or nausea. JLab’s new Smart ANC uses a hybrid ANC tech and the app allows users to customize individual the active noise control level, as well as pass-through audio, equalizer settings, and customize touch controls for each earbud. On a more personal note, I regularly use JLab technology within the production of my award-winning Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz podcast.

Solo New York Re:cycle Collection’s Backpack Briefcase

Pre-COVID-19, I traveled a lot, generally hitting 1 or 2 new cities a month for city-sponsored press trips. As documented for The Hype last year in June 2019, I took a Solo New York All-Star Bag as my sole luggage for a long weekend trip to Rockford, Illinois. Part of Solo’s Varsity Collection, the All-Star is made from super-light nylon, has separate compartments for a laptop and shoes (or dirty clothes), and plenty of space for everything else. Sporty, versatile, and noticeably lightweight, the bag also looks sleek enough for everyday use, despite its more than 22 liters of capacity.

Since then I had the pleasure of trying out Solo New York Re:cycle Collection’s Backpack Briefcase. A different vibe with this one, but also sleek, multi-functional and travel-friendly. Compiled from heathered grey material made from recycled PET bottles, this one is a briefcase that you can easily transform into a backpage. Its shoulder strap is removable and adjustable, and its back strap slides over the luggage handle. The laptop compartment easily fit my MacBook Air. No complaints with this one, currently priced at $64.99.

The Glenlivet 12 Year Old

This fine whisky known as The Glenlivet 12 Year Old has been called a lot of things in its time, including “smooth,” “fruity,” “complex,” “sophisticated,” “entertaining,” and “a classic.” Representing The Glenlivet’s signature style, this classic malt is first matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks which impart notes of vanilla and gives the whisky its distinctive smoothness. The mineral-rich water that comes from Josie’s Well helps form the flavours during mashing and fermentation, whilst the specific height and width of the copper stills add a delicate yet complex character.

Also great from Glenlivet is its Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve, which carries a suggested retail price of $50. The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve is a newer release which combines the heritage of Scotch whisky with the flavor and soul of the Caribbean. The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve draws sweet and tropical fruit notes from the oak, creating a spirit with a smooth and well-balanced finish, making it the ideal expression to be enjoyed neat, over ice, or in a refreshing tasting cocktail, giving a tropical twist to any culinary occasion. Recipes related to this great spirit will be included later this month in a cocktail recipe round-up I will be assembling for The Hype.

The LumiCharge LD

Earlier this year, I wrote about LumiCharge’s LED Lamp which has a universal phone charger and extra USB port. Extending its versatility with illuminating delight, this innovative LED desk lamp aids nighttime reading, studying and general work with three different hues and multiple levels of brightness from energy-efficient low-heat LED bulbs. Meanwhile, its patented universal cell phone dock works for iPhone or Android users. Additional features include a calendar display that shows time, date, day of the week and temperature and motion sensor that lights up the buttons so you can turn the light on in the pitch dark.

Newer to the market, the LumiCharge LD is an all-in-one lamp that is affordably-priced, eye-friendly and has a Bluetooth Speaker and a phone charger (2 smartphones at a time). Its compact size takes up little room on any desk at home, office, dorm or kitchen counter. The LumiCharge II LED Lamp’s 2.0 version offers 3 different hues and different levels of brightness and directional lighting, in addition to a built-in-motion sensor that turn on when you enter a dark room and an anti-bacterial surface-important in today’s environment. Thus, smart multi-functional devices which look great and are easy to use.

Air Innovations MH-701BA Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier with Aromatherapy

Last but DEFINITELY not least… Air Innovations’ Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier with Aromatherapy will not only cool down up to 600 square feet of indoor space, but also make that same space smell wonderful. Voted “Smartest Programmable Humidifier 2018” by Consumer Reports, this device is available in multiple colors and comes with a permanent certamic filter that never needs to be replaced. It can be controlled with a remote control, which comes with the appliance, and runs for up to 96 hours. One of my favorite new acquisitions of 2020.
