Force M.D.’s: The Originators

Please introduce for me the members of Force M.D.’s…

Stevie D, Khalil and Zieme.

Now let’s hop right into your latest single / video “Fly With You” — Tell me about this particular composition? How did it come to fruition?

Well, this song was sent to us by a member of our of management team, Kevin Crump, and it was written by Eric Cui and Rob Schwartz. This song is about communicating with our loved ones who are not here with us.

[Sadly, group-mates Charles “Mercury” Nelson, DJ Dr. Rock, Antoine “T.C.D.” Lundy and Trisco Pearson have all passed away.]

“Fly With You” comes courtesy of your exceedingly overdue, still forthcoming, official seventh studio collection — First things first, why such a lengthy delay between projects?

We have a couple singles “Make U Happy” and “Don’t Rush,” which is still playing on all platforms and getting respectable views. We are independent, so getting the right songs that connect doesn’t happen as fast as we would like, but we are more structured and focused now. We will be putting out more music.

And, what all exactly can be expected from your eagerly awaited next group outing?

Force M.D.’s have always been known to give a great show with excitement , love, emotion and feel good vibes.

…With that being said, with the group being locked down for several months you can expect an even more spectacular show.

How then does this new entry either differ and / or compare to previous Force M.D.’s bodies of work?’

That’s a great question! Our group has been through a lot of personal challenges, that would have easily made others quit and move into another industry or career path. We have so many talented family members. We’ve been blessed to keep moving forward and keeping our legacy alive, while giving you a family sound that’s classic and timeless.

All of that being said, what all had / have you all been up to, both personally and professionally speaking, over the course of the past twenty plus years?

We’ve been performing, developing our businesses, writing books, shooting short videos and bringing awareness to our brand. We are proud to bring the world our special project; our nephew “Zieme,” the next R&B Superstar!

Switching gears here, how has not only the industry itself, but even more-so you all as individuals, either changed and / or evolved since your whole inception into music?

Well musically, we learned how to connect more with souls being vessels for our higher voice; GOD. Understanding businesss is what keeps us living and maintaining our livelihood. In this business, don’t trust too many people. A lot of people are out for themselves. Also, tell your own story before somebody steals yours with their name on it.

Longevity, what do you all attribute yours to?

Our love for music and each other.

What do you all want people to get from your music?

A feeling of being alive and enjoying this journey of life.

Is there a hidden meaning / message in any of your music?

Yes..you are everything and everything is you; “I am who I am.”

As songwriters, where do you all actually draw inspiration from?

Real life experiences from our own trials and tribulations.

Please explain your overall creative process…

Making the music and melodies with our mouths, or coming up with melodies that compliment the beats and turning the melodies into words.

Do you all have any other outside / additional aspirations, maybe even completely away from entertainment?

Sports, family…I have a vision of opening our media company to create outlets for up and coming talent and cultural information.

What has been your greatest career achievement(s), at least thus far anyway?

Number one records, great tours, multiple industry achievements and raising our families.

What’s an average day like for you all?

Up early working out, meditating, going to our station editing footage and overseeing our businesses.

Please discuss how you all interact with and respond to fans…

We connect with a lot of our fans on social media, and our weekly talk show on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Look us up on Facebook!

What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why?

Creating something from nothing, and feeling good with providing something that makes other people feel good and alive…giving the people music with a message they can relate to.

What advice would you all have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

Stay focused, stay away from drugs, always improve your craft, build a winning team of good people. Learn the music industry, so you can build wealth and avoid being taken advantage of.

”Tender Love,” as well as a few other Force M.D.’s compositions, is a bona-fide R&B classic — How did this song actually come about? Who came up with the concept? And, please describe for me the overall studio vibe on that fateful day?

“Tender Love” was clearly one of our favorites that Jam and Lewis produced. They did it for the soundtrack of Krush Groove; a classic Hip Hop movie. It was a movie that we were supposed to be in, but they chose New Edition instead. But we were blessed that they chose us for the soundtrack; that took us two hours to record, and became their first top 10 pop song. They were great to work with, very laid-back and they guaranteed us it would be a big song. We will be forever grateful to Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam for giving us a classic hit. People from all over the world try to remake it, but the Force M.D.’s just had the magic.

What are some of your fondest memories or favorite stories / anecdotes that took place during its recording process?

Singing on the Staten Island Ferry in our early years, while people showed their appreciation by giving us donations. We learned the importance of being steadfast in a journey of loss and gain, which allows us to still have a firm place in this industry.

And, lastly, what’s next for you all?

Well, what’s next for the Force M.D.’s is that we will keep making great music that people of all ages can vibe to, be in movies, keep our radio station ‘Un E TV Entertainment Company’ going, helping out people who want to get into the entertainment business and especially touring all over the world, is what we love to do the most.

Is there anything I left out, or just plain forgot to mention?

Yes , we have a new documentary on the rise of the life of the Force M.D.’s, and plan to follow up with the movie.

Any “closing” thought(s) for our readers?

We would like to thank you and your team for this wonderful interview. We love all of our fans and supporters, and want people to keep supporting the Force M.D.’s brand, and look out for our nephew, Zieme.

Check out “Zieme” featuring Ice T “Take A Stand” on all platforms.
