Sterling Fox On The Forthcoming “Welcome To The Future” Album Of Baby FuzZ, Writing For Other Artists, Video Games & More

Baby FuzZ is an alternative pop act and the latest cartoon-like alter ego of songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Sterling Fox. Baby FuzZ’s music fuses indie rock, glam pop, and soul-crushing ballads, while the performer’s live show has been described as absurdist performance art crossed with rock & roll rave. After moving to Montreal from New York after the 2016 election, Fox had created this alter-ego and made a full-length album based around this unique and intriguing character.

While Baby FuzZ may be a new discovery for many people reading this — even though Baby FuzZ’s 2019 album Plastic Paradise has garnered well over 4 million Spotify Streams — Sterling Fox has written and/or produced music for countless top artists. In turn, his songwriting credits include music recorded by Madonna, Britney Spears, Adam Lambert, Avicii, Adam Levine, Boyz II Men, Lindsey Stirling and Lana Del Rey, beyond co-writing music with the infamous Max Martin. Furthermore, his musical works have also been performed in concert by One Direction, Maroon 5 and Queen.

The latest single released by Baby FuzZ is “Acid Night,” which will be part of the forthcoming full-length album Welcome To The Future. On November 5, 2020, Sterling Fox — who I addressed by his real name at the beginning of the interview because I first encountered him over a decade ago when we both lived in New York City — spoke with me via Zoom, as embedded below. Simply put, he was a delight to speak with and refreshingly-honest about his craft and overall throughout our conversation.
