Divorce Money Records Launches With Its First Cult-Favorite Album on Vinyl – ‘Trust Electricity’ by The Upsidedown

Portland-based band The Upsidedown has re-released their fan-favorite album, Trust Electricity, on vinyl for the first time ever on December 4th to celebrate their partnership with new label Divorce Money Records. The relationship between the two groups came organically after Divorce Money Records founder, Kevin Williams, found himself in the mix of many hot Portland bands through work. “I met numerous bands and people, and one of those bands was The Upsidedown,” says Williams. “I didn’t miss a single one of their shows for years.” Divorce Money Records is launching with the purpose of re-releasing cult-favorite albums on vinyl.

Williams says he plans on working with other bands in the near future to re-imagine their fan’s beloved albums. That being said, Divorce Money Records is not an average label – The company serves to provide bands with the resources and creativity needed to release fresh content that stays true to their classic vibe. Genres on the label’s upcoming roster include alternative, punk, and psychedelic music.

To celebrate the launch, The Upsidedown also released a brand new music video for their fan-favorite song “Wake Up Drive Thru”. RJ Okay (artist who filmed, edited, and directed the video) explains his vision behind the new visuals saying, “30 years ago I was exploring a cave deep in the Kokoweef mountains in pursuit of a lost underground river of gold. I found neither river nor gold, but I did come across some sort of ancient-looking worship site, where a large statue of Moloch the Owl was clutching a battered VHS cassette tape in his beak… written on it in faded magic marker, “GHOSTBUSTERS 4 ACADEMY SCREENER”. I took it, and promptly forgot about it for three decades, until Jsun told me he needed a video for the upcoming Upsidedown re-release, and I remembered that old VHS I had found. Imagine our surprise when there somehow turned out to be comparably recent footage of the band on the tape! Neither of us questioned it or spoke about it again however — that’s how you catch the moon and the stars— by discussing things.”
