25 Recipes For Cocktail Fans & Dry January 2021 Followers Alike

The 2020 holiday season is now behind us. Between that, New Year’s resolutions and the current state of the world, some of us are enjoying a Dry January, while others are looking for other ways to keep their alcohol consumption interesting. On behalf of The Hype Magazine, I rounded up 25 recipes for mixed drinks — both alcohol-induced and alcohol-free fare included — from top brands and acclaimed mixologists for both your home-drinking pleasure featuring a variety of spirits.

Tom Collins aka The Essentia(l) Spritz

Ingredients:
– 2 oz. Brewed Green Tea
– 1 oz. Lemon Juice
– 3/4 oz. Spiced Cranberry Syrup**
– 1 cup Fresh Cranberries
– 1 cup Essentia Water
– 1 cup Sugar
– 2-3 Cinnamon sticks
– 2 whole clove (optional)
– 2 star anise (optional)
– 2 oz. Soda Water

Method:
– Combine all ingredients, except for the soda water, into a cocktail shaker and shake with ice.
– Strain the drink into a Collins glass over ice, and top with soda water.
– Gently stir to combine and garnish with speared cranberries and a rosemary sprig.

Spiced-Cranberry Syrup Instructions:
– In a medium saucepan, bring all ingredients except sugar to a light simmer until spices start to release aromas and cranberries start to split.
– Add sugar and stir to dissolve (no need to bring to a boil).
– Set aside and let cool.
– Strain into a glass jar and save in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Hey, Honey

Ingredients:
– 2 oz. Four Roses Small Batch
– 1 1/2 oz. Honey Simple Syrup
– 1/2 oz. Lemon Juice
– 5 drops Angostura Bitters

Directions:
– Mix all ingredients.
– Serve and enjoy.

Botanical Daisy

Ingredients:
– 2 oz. NOLET’S Silver Gin
– 0.5 oz. Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose
– 1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
– 1 tbsp. Maraschino Syrup
– Club Soda
– Garnish: 2 Maraschino cherries.

Method:
– Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
– Add NOLET’S Silver, Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose, lemon, and syrup.
– Shake and strain into an ice-filled highball glass.
– Top with soda water.
– Garnish with 2 Maraschino cherries.

Santo Sunny Blood Orange

Ingredients:
– 1.5 oz. Santo Spirit Blanco Tequila
– 3 oz. Sparkling Blood Orange juice
– 1 oz. Fresh Squeezed Lime juice
– 2 oz. Cointreau
– Garnish: Orange Slice, Lime Wheel

Method:
– Shake Santo Blanco, fresh squeezed lime juice and cointreau in a shaker with ice.
– Strain over ice and top with sparkling blood orange juice.
– Serve in a rocks glass.
– Garnish with an orange slice and lime wheel.

Proper Irish Coffee

Ingredients:
– 2 oz. Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
– 4 oz. Hot Coffee
– 0.75 oz. Simple Syrup
– 2-3 oz. Heavy Cream
– Optional: Nutmeg

Method:
– In a shaker or jar, shake or whip heavy cream until slightly thickened (not completely stiff).
– In a mug, add Proper No. Twelve Whiskey, hot coffee, and simple syrup.
– Stir.
– Carefully layer on top the thickened heavy cream until it covers the drink.
– Optional grating of nutmeg on top.

Chocolate Tiramisu
For 4 cocktails

Ingredients:
– 10 cl Mozart Chocolate Cream
– 2 cl Cold Brew Espresso
– 3 tbsp. Mascarpone
– Whipped Cream
– Cocoa Powder

Method:
– Mix all ingredients with ice cubes in a cocktail shaker or any screw-top jar and strain into the Mozart Cupcake Glass.
– Top with whipped cream and cocoa powder.
– Be amazed and enjoy.

Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake
For 4 cocktails

Ingredients:
– 8 cl Mozart Chocolate Cream Pumpkin Spice
– 2 cl Maple Syrup
– 6 tsp. Yogurt
– Cookie Crumbles
– Pumpkin Seeds (roasted and chopped)
– Ground Nutmeg

Method:
– Mix all the ingredients with ice cubes in a cocktail shaker or any screw-top jar.
– To garnish your glass, first mix the cookie crumbles with the roasted and chopped pumpkin seeds. Then dip the rim of the glass into sugar sirup and then into the cookie-pumpkin-seed mix.
– Now strain the choctail into the Mozart Cupcake Glass and top with ground nutmeg.

Spiced Winter Whisky

Ingredients:
– 1 ½ parts Aberlour 12YO Single Malt Scotch
– ½ parts All Spice Dram
– ¼ parts Simple Syrup
– ¼ parts Fresh Lemon Juice
– 2 dashes Black Walnut Bitters
– Garnish: Cinnamon Stick

Method:
– Add all ingredients to an ice filled mixing glass.
– Stir until incorporated and all liquid feels chilled.
– Strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube and garnish with 1 cinnamon stick.

Hot Scotch Apple Cider

Ingredients:
– 2 parts Aberlour A’Bunadh
– ¼ parts Ginger Liqueur
– 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
– Apple Cider (1 cup per person)
– 4-5 cloves
– Whipped Cream
– Nutmeg

Method:
– Fill hot toddy glass or mug with hot water to warm glass.
– In a saucepan, heat apple cider with a handful of cloves. Heat until piping hot.
– Discard the hot water in toddy glass and immediately add all ingredients.
– Top glass with the warmed hot apple cider.
– Garnish with whipped cream and freshly grated nutmeg.

Sandeman Spiked Cider Apitiv

Ingredients:
– 6 parts Hot Apple Cider
– 2 parts Vodka (e.g. Frankly Organic Vodka)
– 1 part Sandeman White Port
– 2 ½ parts Triple Sec
– Clove
– Cinnamon sticks

Method:
– Over medium heat, bring apple cider and cloves to a simmer.
– Add Sandeman White Port, Vodka and Triple Sec, stir occasionally until hot.
– Garnish with cinnamon sticks.

Green Mountain Mule

Ingredients:
– 1 part Runamok Maple Ginger Mule Cocktail Syrup
– 2 parts Vodka (e.g. Frankly Organic Vodka)
– 5 parts Club Soda
– Ice

Method:
– In a tall glass, blend cocktail syrup and vodka.
– Top it off with club soda.
– Add ice.

Extra Sangria

Ingredients:
– 1 oz. Chivas Extra 13 Sherry Cask
– 0.75 oz. Campo Viejo Rioja
– 0.75 oz. Lemon Juice
– 0.75 oz. Sugar Syrup (1:1)
– 2 oz. Soda Water
– Garnish: Orange Wedge

Method:
– Build all ingredients in glass, filled to the top with ice.
– Enjoy.

Dhōs Gin Free is a sugar-free, non-alcoholic, zero-calorie spirit. Ideal as a gin substitute, below are 3 recommended cocktail recipes provided to me via Dhōs Spirits, preparation method included.

Blanco Coco

Ingredients:
– 1.5 oz. Tequila Don Julio Blanco
– 1 oz. Vita Coco Coconut Water
– 1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
– Garnish: Lime Wheel
– Ice

Method::
– Combine Tequila Don Julio Blanco, Vita Coco Coconut Water, and fresh lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice.
– Shake well.
– Strain contents into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish with a lime wheel.

Cincoro Midnight Manhattan

Ingredients:
– 2 oz. Cincoro Reposado
– 1/2 oz. Sweet Vermouth
– 1/2 oz Premium Coffee Liqueur
– Dehydrated Lemon Wheel

Method:
– Build all ingredients into mixing glass.
– Stir briskly.
– Strain into a chilled coupe glass.

High West Quit’n Time Hot Cocktail

Ingredients
– 2 oz. High West Double Rye!
– 3 oz. Hot Spiced Lemonade
– Garnish: Cinnamon Stick or Lemon Wheel

Method:
– Add both ingredients to a pre-heated mug or goblet and stir briefly.
– Garnish with a cinnamon stick or lemon wheel.
– Enjoy.

Mrs. Clauses Secret
Helmed by Lionfish Delray

Ingredients:
– 2 oz. Grey Goose Vodka
– 1/4 oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liquor\
– 1 oz. Lime Juice
– 1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
– 1/2 oz. Pama Liqueur

Method:
– Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker.
– Shake and strain into a Collins glass.
– Top the cocktail with Fever Tree Tonic and add a mint sprig and raspberry garnish.
– An optional finishing touch is to spray the garnish with edible 24K gold.

Holiday Coquito
Helmed by Cocktail Courier

Ingredients:
– 1.5 oz. Bacardi Superior Rum
– 1 oz. Cream Of Coconut
– 1 oz. Condensed Milk
– 1 oz. Evaporated Milk
– 1 Drop Vanilla Extract
– Garnish: Cinnamon Stick

Method:
– Chill rocks glass by placing it in the fridge/freezer, or by filling it with ice water and setting aside for 5 minutes.
– Measure and add all ingredients (except garnish) to cobbler shaker.
– Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds
– Remove rocks glass from fridge/freezer, or if using ice water, empty the glass.
– Strain shaken cocktail into the glass.
– Garnish with cinnamon stick.

Recuerdo Mezcal Lombardi

Ingredients:
– 1.5 oz. Recuerdo Mezcal Joven
– 1 oz. Passion Fruit Juice
– 1.5oz Orange Juice
– 0.5oz Lime Juice
– 0.25 oz. Simple Syrup
– Club soda
– Garnish: Star Fruit

Method:
– Shake all the ingredients except for the club soda over ice.
– Strain.
– Serve into a highball glass with fresh ice.
– Top off with club soda
– Garnish with a slice of star fruit.

ABERFELDY’S Golden Hot Toddy

Ingredients:
– 2 oz. ABERFELDY 12 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
– 1/2 oz. Local Honey Syrup (honey syrup = 1 part honey and 1 part water)
– 1/2 oz. Lemon Juice
– Hot Water (to top)
– Garnish: Cinnamon Stick, Lemon Wheel

Method:
– Add all ingredients to a heatproof glass/mug.
– Add hot water to top.
– Garnish with a cinnamon stick and lemon wheel.

The CÎROC 235 Splash

Ingredients:

– 1.5 oz. CÎROC White Grape
– 3 oz. Q Elderflower Tonic
– Garnish: Cucumber, Grape

Method:
– Add CÎROC White Grape and Q Elderflower Tonic into a rocks glass over ice.
– Stir and garnish with skewered cucumber ribbon and white grape.

Galliano Hot Shot

Ingredients:
– 0.5 oz. Galliano L’Autentico
– 0.5 oz. Hot Coffee
– 0.5 oz. Cream

Method:
– Layer ingredients in the given order in a shot glass.
– Enjoy. Yeah, that simple.

Singleton & Spice

Ingredients:
– 1.5 oz. The Singleton of Glendullan 12 Year Old
– 4 oz. Hot Water
– 0.5 oz. Honey
– 0.25 oz. Lemon Juice
– Optional: Cinnamon, Apple Slice
– Garnish: Lemon Wheel spiked with 4 Cloves, Cinnamon Stick

Method:
– Add all ingredients in a Mug glass.
– Add garnish.
– Feel free to add Cinnamon and an Apple Slice for a flavor twist.

Damrak Virgin & Tonic

Ingredients:
– 1 part Damrak Virgin
– 3 parts Tonic Water
– Garnish: 1-2 Orange Slices, Sprig

Method:
– Fill a copa glass with ice cubes.
– Pour in the Damrak Virgin and top with tonic.
– Garnish with 2 orange slices and a sprig. (easonal serve: Add a sprig of rosemary anytime of year for best flavor.)
– Stir briefly.

Disaronno Pink Velvet

Ingredients:
– 2 oz. Disaronno Velvet
– 0.5 oz. Disaronno Originale
– 1 oz. Red Bitter
– Pinch of sea salt

Method:
– Stir all ingredients over cubed ice.
– Enjoy.

Baby Doll Cocktail

Igredients:
– 1.5 oz. Grace O’Malley Gin
– 1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
– 1 oz. Cocci Americano
– 1 oz. Crème De Mure (or similar blackberry liqueur)
– 1 Egg White
– Garnish: Sprig of Heather

Method:
– Shake all the ingredients together, first without ice to aerate and expand the egg white.
– Shake with ice in tact.
– Strain into a coupe style glass and garnish with a sprig of heather to serve.

Teremana Ranch Water

Ingredients:
– 1.5 oz. Teremana Blanco
– Juice of Half a Lime
– Mineral Water
– Garnish: Lime Wedge

Method:
– Build Teremana Blanco and Lime Juice in a highball glass.
– Top with mineral water.
– Garnish with a lime wedge.
