Viral Songwriter Zach Hood Unveils Heartbreaking New Visual For Single “Flashbacks”

19-year-old Zach Hood spins heartbreak into gold with a new visual for his viral debut single “Flashbacks.” With a collection of old home videos, he tells the story of his family and the strength they’ve gained following the departure of his father when he was just 8 years old.

An emotional record about overcoming abandonment, “Flashbacks” is sentimental and raw while also being masterfully crafted. Zach Hood naturally knows how young people feel and exactly what they connect with in his lyricism. The record was co-written with songwriters Dana Williams and Miki Ratsula, who also produced the track.

The Alabama artist has made an effortless leap from TikTok creator to buzzing pop star in mere weeks as a video about his first single release blew up on the app, garnering over 3.5 million views. The tender moment caught Zach playing the song for his single mother and it captured the hearts of viewers everywhere.

One of 19-year-old Zach Hood’s earliest memories is singing along to “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars in the carseat of his mom’s 2005 Pontiac Sunfire in Daphne, Alabama. Music quickly became a big part of his life, as Zach used it to cope with his parents’ divorce and dad walking out on him at 8 years old. While Zach was always viewed as a standout athlete growing up – playing virtually every sport – deep down he knew that singing was what he wanted to do.

Zach first publicly began posting song covers on his Instagram in middle school, and swiftly fell in love with the idea of sharing that one internalized passion for music. Fast forward to his senior year of high school, Zach created a TikTok account with no expectations other than having another outlet to share. A few viral moments later, Zach found himself with over 900K followers, reaffirming that this would be his path in life.

Without any press, Zach’s first original song, “Flashbacks”, landed on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist upon release and garnered 219k plays in a week. It has grown to hit nearly 100k daily streams across all DSPs.
