Who Is Kareem “Reemo” Tyson

Kareem “Reemo” Tyson. is an Actor, Podcaster, A/R of Worldwide Soundz Records, & Vlogger/Content Creator from Harlem, NYC. As we explore the world of Clubhouse, the next thing in social media platforms (currently in beta), we have the opportunity to meet creatives and business people from across the globe. We heard Kareem’s elevator pitch and were intrigued and wanted to know more.

The Hype Magazine got Reemo to weigh in on a few things

From the outside looking in who is Kareem “Reemo” Tyson?

He’s an introvert & extrovert CREATIVE who goes hard for creativity at it’s highest frequency, and has lived through a journey that he chosen from God’s Gift that was given to him. Also, loves the experiences embraced on his journey, and will continue looking to open new doors, and opportunities.

Was there a defining moment that brought you to the entertainment industry?

Whooooo, honestly in 2006…when I realized I wasn’t happy anymore at the high fashion women’s store I was working at. One night after work, I was at a “House Party” in Harlem, and this young kid (Looked like Lupe Fiasco) was talking with me in the kitchen, and I was previously speaking to a couple of ladies but being engaging, and funny. Afterwards, him and I are chopping it up, and he’s mentions to me about Central Casting (Casting Agency in NYC) where I should go and do acting. He told me their fee to apply, and next day I took off from work, and went to the agency. Finished up the paper work, and then bammmmm my first gig was on Law & Order: SVU. Yes, it was a background actor role, but I was thrilled because my creativity flow was incredibly high again. Also, it really paved the way for me to be in more projects, and do some part-time modeling. Overall, this is one of my top pivotal moments in my Brand Career.

You’ve got quite a few projects is there one of them that is most dear to your heart?

Lawdddd, if I had to choose my “BABY” called; “ReemTV” it was an independent platform of mine which originally was created from a FLIP-HD Camera (Whooooooo…you haven’t heard that name in a while) that my Mom purchased for me to practice my lines or scripts when I was acting. Literally, like one night of chilling with my peoples, and fooling around with the camera, a light bulb came up, and from there I went in the town locally and was filming content. I would say the line “Yeahhhh Son…ReemTV, Get SERIOUS TV” and locally people pick up on it, to a degree of I pulled out my Flip Camera they knew I was about to record. Down the line, the platform won awards at Flim festivals, and was respected within the Independent Hip Hop scene. Unfortunately, I stopped with my Baby in January 2020 due to the time management, and of the many other projects I was involved with. Overall, if I could revisit that time…I would still keep it going with ReemTV.

Tell us about your podcast and what you cover!

Oh baby, so I have two podcast platforms (Honestly three but that’s a whole other situation) one of them is called “The Reemo Meerak” which is like an entertaining, yet Unapolegetic type of podcast where we have talks about currents, industry stories that we went through, HIJINXS, and much more. Also, it’s hosted by Jay AlreadyFamous & Saucey Da Body. Then, there’s my more one to one interview based podcast called C.U.T.S.which stands for CULTURE ,URBAN, TECHNOLOGY & SPORTS where I speak to today’s figures of the acronym about their career, and they express advice or quotes to “MY CREATIVES” and have great conversations with them.

Both platforms are on major streaming platforms, as well as are featured on my YouTube Channel.

Was it difficult to enter the podcast arena?

Yes, in a sense of how to maintain the energy, and be as consistent with what you want to display to your audience and target market base. It took me about a year or two to get the swing of things, when I came to the Media realm back in 2012. So the best way to get accustomed to things were to be a co-host on various platforms when I first started out in The Bronx at Damatrix Studios Network. Also, studied my media inspiration figures; Fab 5 Freddy, Sway Calloway, Angie Martinez, Tory “Star” Torrain, Michael Baidsen, & Donnie Simpson whom I looked to about being a host or hosting a platform, as well as how they presented themselves as Professionals. I took that into my style of how I do a podcast.

What was your biggest lesson as you grew your brand?

Three lessons, PERSEVERANCE IS REAL, CONSISTENT IS THE WINNER, and NEVER allow my VALUE to be of anyone else’s importance except MY OWN.

In this industry, you’ll come across many people that will do their best to devalue whom you are or for that matter test your integrity just for the sake to say “We Did Business”. You must truly understand this industry to maneuver accurately, or you will find yourself lost in time, or for that matter caught in a situation you had no business being involved with. Stick to your core values, and what you believe is best for your brand, and network with people whom are similar to what you NEED and WANT.

I make it my duty, and routine to be as CONSISTENT as possible. In this industry that’s the real “currency” that surpasses getting paid or the FAME. 9 times out of 10, you’ll be surprised who’s really watching, as well as how much respect and assistance will come your way if you have a consistent product that you’re growing. TRUST, my numbers are low for what I do, but the CONSISTENCY is what still keeps me going within the industry, and people willing to network, and trusting of my skillset.

Finally, PERSEVERANCE IS REAL….now this is one of my main slogans because it’s attached to my life. Earlier in my career from 2009-2010 I was going through a heavy depression phase because I really desired to be an ACTOR, and things didn’t live up to what I wanted to achieve. Going through multiple suicide attempts, and bad drinking binges caused by anxiety, and anger of letting people down. The only person I was letting down was MYSELF. After my last attempt in 2010, I really make a tough, yet comfortable decision to pull back from everyone until I can get back into a solid, yet healthy mindset. It was tremendously hard to pull away from my friends and family, as well as to really keep having moments of happiness then it goes away and I’m tremendously depressed. In the process, I really honed in on building my Self-Love, appreciating LIFE, and really understanding my VALUE. Overall, probably one of the most challenging points in my life.

Tell us about your work and passions outside of the entertainment industry?

Yes, Yes….for the last 8 (will be 9 years in April), I am an Educator for New York City Department of Education within District 75.

My position is a Teaching Assistant, as well as I was an Active Dean for a brief moment when I first started. As I stated before, my ode is to the youth as daily with them I do my best to guide them to a better light, as well as do my all to “Plant Seeds” about what the world has to offer, and for them to achieve what they want at their highest frequency. Working with the youth can be therapeutic and challenging at the same time, but it’s a great learning experience for self and for what you are embarking upon with many different minds, as well as personalities. For the last few years, I’ve allowed them into my entertainment world, as well as show them a few things of my creativity. The best thing of all this is the bond that’s built where I’m not only “Mr. Tyson”, but I’m an inspiring figure for them to break away from an unfair stigma upon them. Also, I have a passion for gaming (Courtesy of working with Hip Hop Gamer), and of collecting Funko Pop Figures.
