Cleopatra Coleman On The New Film “The Right One,” Future Projects, Hobbies & More

In the heartfelt and hilarious rom-com The Right One, novelist Sara (portrayed by Cleopatra Coleman) is struggling with writer’s block and needs inspiration. She finds it when she serendipitously meets Godfrey (portrayed by Nick Thune), a down-on-his-luck oddball who constantly changes personas and alter egos in order to cope with his past and avoid reality. Just as Godfrey begins to open up to Sara, he discovers that she has been using him as inspiration for her next novel, and he vanishes from her life. Nothing further shall I spoil, since there is plenty more to this film — which comes to on-demand outlets, digital content providers and select theaters on February 5, 2021 and to DVD and Blu-Ray on February 9, 2021 — although the film’s cast also includes comedian Iliza Shlesinger (2008 Last Comic Standing winner) and Saturday Night Live alumnus (and Anchorman stand-out) David Koechner.

The aforementioned Cleopatra Coleman first hit my radar as one of the stars of the Fox series The Last Man On Earth. You may otherwise know Coleman from her role as Rya within the Netflix original sci-fi thriller In The Shadow Of The Moon, 2020 film The Argument and/or the iconic Australian television soap opera Neighbours. Coleman is also an in-demand screenwriter and a budding singer/songwriter and DJ, beyond all of her long-term success as an internationally-recognized actress.

On January 29, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Cleopatra Coleman via Zoom, as embedded below. We spoke about The Right One yet also touched upon various facets of her career, which not everyone realized started in her teen years. Coleman can be followed via Instagram at www.instagram.com/cleopatracoleman, while more on The Right One can be found here and here.
