Entrepreneurship as a Means to Strengthen Community: Dialogue with Fashion Designer & Artist Arden

One of the greatest things about the 21st century and the rise of the digital era is that anyone can make something of their life. Anyone can be a creator and entrepreneur. Anyone can build and do all these amazing things that would have been so difficult to achieve a couple of centuries ago. And whether we realize it or not in the moment, our creative actions and enterprises are helping build and strengthen the community around us.

For fashion creator and musical artist Arden, that community is Lock Haven, PA, but also, in a larger sense, the whole wide world. The 24-year-old creative launched his career as an artist fashion maverick little more than a year ago yet has managed to rapidly charm hearts (and ears) widely across the world. His clothing brand, Mod570, currently lists most of its Prototype collection as sold-out, which goes to show what a huge success that was. And musically, Arden is putting out good music left, right and center. With influences such as Drake and Lil Skies, Arden already displays a wide vocal range, deftly leading aggressive beats, but also flowing smoothly along softer, more melodious tracks.

That, in itself, is fortifying the community. To be perfectly frank, we are in a rough spot, what with the pandemic and all those restrictions, and anything good coming out into the world right now is beneficial. Mod570’s line of comfortable, stylish clothing is great because it caters to a wide array of creatives and entrepreneurs, and they are some of the most hard-hit people in this current situation. Giving them hope, and support through the means of Mod570’s clothing matters more than we might realize it. Then, of course, there is the music, which improves the community in more obvious ways.

But then, Arden has always been about the people, both in his musical and his fashion ventures.

“My family and friends supporting me of course, having mentors that have been in business their whole lives and really surrounding myself with the right people who have done it, and who want to do it,” he confides, when asked what (or in this case, who) he attributes his success to.

Arden is also heavily focused on giving back to the community. Recognizing the positive influence his own mentors have had on him, both on a personal level, but also in terms of his artistic journey, he says he does what he can to support young talent and looks forward to acting as mentor for other creatives someday.

As it happens, Arden’s favorite aspect both about the music and fashion industry is the social aspect.

“Each person I get to work with is unique in their own way, and that’s dope. It really gives me a perspective of how everyone is different when it comes to art, which makes me appreciate it even more.”

Considering that Mod570 is an activewear brand intent on empowering and supporting creatives, Arden’s social nature goes a long way in solidifying that goal.
