Introducing Rising Star DJ and Producer Giorgio Leone IT

Giorgio Leone IT, DJ, and producer was born in Catania in 1991, he’s currently based in Taipei, Taiwan but active around Asia.

Since he was young he showed a strong interest in Techno, Tech-House, and House music.

He started to approach Catania’s techno scene where he met many other producers and DJs, this led him to make the first steps to become a disk jockey and then to finally get closer to the music production as he always wanted to put the emotions that he feels in the music he produces and plays in order to have a unique style.

In his sets, Giorgio Leone is focused on the music atmosphere and groove, in order to give to people the best vibes.

He’s also known as the Founder of “Our Muzik” a very successful group that is dominating the techno scene in Taiwan and Asia thanks to their revolutionary ideas and the perfect mix of different styles and cultures.

His project is resulting in a winning one and it is already paying off.

Many big names in the entertainment industry are getting in touch with Giorgio and his group because of the unique concept and the appreciation of these amazing vibes that they know how to spread around.

Giorgio brought his European background to Taiwan and Asia. He’s making a significant impact in the whole continent and many clubs all over Asia are just waiting for the end of the pandemic to have Giorgio Leone IT playing to their venues as he’s already fully booked.

The Hype Magazine got Giorgio to weigh in on a few things!

What brought you to the DJ culture?

Definitely, the passion I have and had for music since I was a teenager, my goal has always been to make people feel great when listening to my music.

Describe your style?

I would say very “dark” techno and tech-house, rich in atmosphere, a strong groove, and a mix of positive and energetic emotions.

Giorgio Leone (IT) · Tech-house Mix

What was the first record you started scratching and mixing on the turntables?

The first track I’ve released under a label is Call Me from the EP Infectious, however, I’ve produced many others a long time ago that were never released on the market.

You are a pretty diverse DJ, describe the music scene in your neck of the woods?

Here in Asia in general the music scene is mainly focused on EDM and progressive house, exactly what I would define as “festival music”, however, there is a significant presence of hardstyle here and the underground techno scene is slowly growing.

Who and what are your influences?

Probably I’ve got the biggest influences from my other DJ friends back home in Catania when I’ve approached the first clubs when I was younger, they all contributed to growing my interest in music.

What artists are you listening to right now?

Recently I’ve been listening a lot to Amelie Lens, Cosmic Boys, and Umek.

Who would you like to work with in the future?

I would love to work with Oliver Heldens, Amelie Lens, and Umek.

What would be the steps you would take as a DJ to Break an artist in your area?

Here in Asia there are many good artists and the competition is fierce for emerging talents, I would recommend any young artist to work hard on what they want to achieve and to have a unique style, something that people will remember you for, in a market like this you can’t be anonymous, you must stand out if you want to make yourself a name.

Are you on the radio currently and if so, do you prefer radio or live DJing?

I have been on the radio for a couple of years before but now I decided to focus on producing more music and release tracks under important labels, in the future I will definitely think about going back on air even because I have many requests, they’re tempting.

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

I want to encourage everyone to pursue their dreams and to never give up chasing them exactly like I did and like I’m still doing. It is important to be in a positive environment otherwise it might be hard to succeed, I had to move from Europe to Asia to give a significant boost to my career and this choice definitely paid back, If I am where I am now is due to the fact that I was fearless in front of many important decisions I had to make.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “WTF moment thus far in your career?

Believe me, there were many, since the beginning until now I’ve seen many weird things, however, one of the most WTF moments was not long ago when I was playing in Taipei, it was, of course, a techno night and the place was packed, during my set I remember there was a guy that fell and while falling he tried to grab something to hold himself on, the problem was that he grabbed a bunch of wires attached behind the console so the music went off and he managed to become the most hated person in the room for a bit.
