Live Session With Tressa Azarel Smallwood of MegaMind Media

The past year was a landmark one for all of us but especially busy producer Tressa Azarel Smallwood whose MegaMind Media set precedent at the height of Covid last June (2020) by shooting six films with major name actors & directors over the summer which were entirely compliant with all Guild protocols and earned coveted timeslots along with critical acclaim as the original moves premiered on several networks including BET, BETHer and UMC among others. The dynamic Smallwood perfected a feat few could. She personally raised $2 million during the Covid shutdown with the specific goal of cinematically telling relevant stories the African American community cares about via established talent and the hottest new stars in tv and film.

And now, 2021’s production lineup will surpass those seemingly out-of-reach heights with ten full movies produced by Tressa with the majority getting ready to shoot in March in the DC-area. “Trophy Wife” shoots in May and two other originals (yet to be announced) film August through the fall. A stand-out project, near and dear to the filmmakers heart, has already been snapped up exclusively by BET, “A Rich Christmas,” starring Bill Bellamy, Vanessa Williams, Denise Boutte, Brandee Evans and Tyler Abron with a mega campaign set for December timed to Christmas 2021.
