Arkatech Beatz and Bria Lee Team Up For New Single

On the heels of a new distribution deal with The Orchard (a subsidiary of Sony Music), platinum producers Arkatech Beatz (Mike”Trauma Dewar & Collin “Jugrnaut” Dewar) just dropped their first single off their Arkatech Beatz Ent (ABE) label, titled “On Fire” featuring Bria Lee, which already is getting grand reviews.

Check out the Q&A below:

Jason: How are you guys doing in this pandemic?

Mike D: Man It’s been really rough on so many different levels, and it can be very depressing if you let it get to you. I just tell folks you have to find a way to hold it together and work through it. Even take the time to focus on your craft or learn a new hustle.

Jug: The pandemic is a gift and a curse. It forced me to slow down and spend more time with family, which was needed. The other side was it helped us reorganize our business, learn some new skills, and make some really great music.

Bria: It’s been a little upsetting because I haven’t been able to perform on stage which is my absolute favorite thing to do. However, I have been writing more than ever and I’ve been very creative and keeping myself busy with the other aspects of my art.

Jason: I can definitely understand that. Good way to stay busy and productive. So you guys just released “On Fire” and it’s definitely a smash! What’s the feedback like?

Bria: Everybody’s talking about it and messaging me. They haven’t heard anything like this from me.

Mike: Everyone who’s heard it loves it!

Jug: It’s just one of those undeniable pop records. It just goes!

Jason: I have to agree with that. So how did ya’ll link up?

Mike D: I heard a freestyle record Bria did over Mobb Deep’s Shook One’s Instrumental. Something about her voice captured my attention. I thought what she did was dope and creative from such a raw aspect. Also Shook One’s is not only my favorite hip hop record of all time, but a good portion of my career in the music business started working at LOUD Records (home of Mobb Deep) as an A&R

Jug: We also had the pleasure of working with the Mobb and even producing a record for Prodigy (Self Conscience feat Nas). So anything Mobb we have a deep connection to.

Jason: Classic!!

Mike: Then she turned around and did the One Shot feat Fat Joe record which used the Beatnuts/ Big Pun Off The Books sample. That’s when I felt like oh, she’s digging in our bag. So I reached out to Bria’s manager and we eventually locked in.

Jason: So tell me about the record “On Fire”.

Bria: This new record is something in a little bit of a different direction than what I’ve released in the past. I really focused on my sound and created a very soothing vibe with my voice over the Arkatechz’ track which can be played either in a club or on a long car ride with the windows down. That’s the beauty of this song. It can work in so many different situations.

Jason: I agree. It’s really a dope record. Good job on that. So what inspires you when making records?

Bria: To be honest, and I’m not proud of it, I write the best records when I’m upset or angry. I wish that I could say most of my records came from a happy place, but that would be a lie. However, “On Fire” is not one of my typical angry or sad songs. It’s fun, it’s dancey and I had a great time writing it.

Jason: I noticed you’re an artist that can crossover many genres of music. Is there a particular favorite? And do you have any influences?

Bria: I’m influenced by a wide variety of people which is probably why I am able to cross over to so many different genres. My current favorite artists are people like Halsey and Post Malone. However, I am forever influenced by singer/songwriters like Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill.

Jason: Got it! And you play the piano too. So what made you want to learn the piano?

Bria: We had a piano in my house coming up and I started playing it around the age of five. At age 6 was when I began lessons officially. I’m not sure what made me want to learn, I feel like it was just something I was meant to do and I can’t live without it.

Jason: What else do you have coming?

Bria: In 2021 you can expect a lot more records from me to be released. I plan on dropping something every month for the next couple of months. I have a ballad coming out, some fun songs for the summer and some surprises up my sleeve. As soon as I am able to perform on stage again, that’s where I’ll be as often as I can!

Jug: We have some new projects coming, I don’t want to give out too many names but, there is an Arkatech Beatz & Raekwon record, an Arkatech Beatz & Mya record, an Arkatech Beatz and ….I think that’s all I’m going to say for now. I probably said too much already!

Mike D: We also just dropped our first music NFT with artwork called The God. If you are not up on NFT’s, it’s the new wave, look it up…..and some more music with Bria. So stay tuned.
