How Chicago Collective No More Heroes is Building a Legacy

No More Heroes (https://www.nomoreheroes.co/) is a Chicago-based collective looking to shift the culture one video at a time. They’ve worked with some of the music industry’s hottest talents including Lil Durk, The Kid LAROI, Pooh Shiesty, G Herbo, Famous Dex, and more.
The company specializes in creating high-quality, creative music videos for both major labels and their YouTube channel which is home to more than 700,000 subscribers. They assist both major companies and independent artists with their branding and development through consulting as well as hands on work day to day.
Most recently, No More Heroes was able to collaborate with Pooh Shiesty and Big 30 for the “Neighbors” visual. The video highlights the high-quality work that No More Heroes has been able to consistently provide, establishing the company as key players with a vision for dope visuals.
Another noteworthy project they’ve played a hand in is PNB Rock and King Von’s “Rose Gold” official music video. The video garnered a lot of attention and was praised for its original concept. At the current time of writing, the video has over 6.9 million views.
No More Heroes, formerly known as Laka Films, has also helped shape regional heavyweights into global superstars since 2014 and has played a key role in helping establish careers for many artists.
The director duo took to Instagram back in late March of 2020 to officially change their name saying “A new era and it’s only right we start it the same way we started the last one.” It seemed only fitting that they’d start this new era with Famous Dex, one of the first artists to blow up from their Youtube channel.
Azeez Alaka (better known as Laka Films) and Brandon Holmes, the company’s head honchos, have helped launch acts like Montana of 300, Trippie Redd, Juice WRLD, JayDaYoungan, and Calboy. Most recently, No More Heroes was able to collaborate with Pooh Shiesty and Big 30 for the “Neighbors” visual.
The idea for Laka’s and Holmes’ name change came while they were touring with the late Juice WRLD on his Death Race For Love tour.
“The idea for it comes from the belief that you’re no more or less of a hero than anyone else just based on how big you/your platform is … Every night tens of thousands of people came out in support and to them, Juice was their hero. But the reality of it was that none of that was possible without the many teams that played their roles every single night,” they explained.
This emphasis on teamwork is at the core of the company’s brand. Laka and Holmes describe themselves as “very family and team-oriented people” who’ve created a brand that has helped shape the culture while giving them an opportunity to “create opportunities for creatives” that they would have loved to have themselves.
“Currently, we run our production company, YouTube channel, have a joint venture with a major, production deals with multiple artists, consult and most recently purchased a building in Chicago that features a recording studio, creative space, and multiple film sets,” they said.
Now that the two have firmly established themselves as No More Heroes, they look to keep their foot on the gas throughout the new year. The two are specifically excited about their new building in Chicago saying that:
“Neither of us would’ve guessed that 2020 was the year we’d start making real estate ventures but the opportunity was there and ever since we’ve been extremely excited about the opportunities this could open up for ourselves and others as we continue build[ing] out and renovation.”
As far as music goes, Laka and Holmes have gotten involved in more ways than just visually. They’re planning to put out a compilation project with some of their favorite artists. Recently, the Chicago based collective dropped their debut single/video for “4Nem Grave,” which included Lil Zay Osama, DCG Shun and DCG Bsavv on the track.
The company is definitely building a name for themselves and have already worked with some of the most notable talents in the game. Stay tuned for more from No More Heroes and make sure to subscribe to their Youtube and follow them on Instagram and Twitter!
