On Mekahel’s Journey to Mounderwear

Israeli-born model, actor, fashion designer, and husband On Mekahel has immersed himself into the extensive world of fashion. Prior to the launch of his brand, Mounderwear, On was a personal assistant and right-hand man to the one and only, Naomi Campbell. After years of working alongside one of the greatest fashion icons in the world, On decided to take a giant leap of faith and launch a one-of-a-kind men’s underwear collection. With the help of his husband and with the support of his family, Mounderwear was born.

Many contributing factors led to the start of On’s iconic brand. Between attending fashion school, working, his personal assistant gig, and modeling for some of the largest underwear brand names known, On knew he had a future in the undergarment world. With a little push from his dad, On’s dream became a reality. At the tender age of 21, On was already the founder of his own company. With this, came challenges. “When I was 21, I didn’t know much about the business side of things, in a naive sort of way, which held a lot of missteps on my journey. My biggest fear was always to fail – or whatever that might look like.” Of course, with challenges, came achievements. On is extremely proud of the fact that “Mounderwear had the ability to get through the tough economic year brought on by the pandemic while still launching a new swim line in 2021.” The Mounderwear swim line was recently launched and it is a one-of-a-kind brand. The brand takes “a clear and concise reason behind every choice that goes into the design process. We are also really trying to appeal to everyone’s taste, not just one particular niche of the market.” On’s vision for the brand is to be inclusive and practical while also making a statement.

More recently, On took his passions to the front cover of L’Officiel Arabia as the first Israeli male and the first gay male to be featured on the cover of an Arabic magazine. This was the first of many exciting things that On has planned for 2021. Mounderwear is gearing up to release new collections and styles, his reality TV show, “Putting On,” is airing season 3 set to air sometime this summer, and a few more fashion projects are in the works!
