0Richard Robichaux On The New Disney+ Series “Big Shot,” His Dual Career, Music, The Mets & More
Big Shot is a new Disney+ series starring John Stamos and Yvette Nicole Brown. Premiering on the streaming service on April 16, 2021, the David E. Kelley-produced show tells the story of a temperamental college basketball coach — as portrayed by the aforementioned John Stamos — who gets fired from his job and must take a job at an elite all-girls private high school.
Actor Richard Robichaux portrays teacher “George Pappas” in Big Shot, yet Robichaux is also a real-life teacher, working as a professor at the University of California at San Diego where he runs the MFA Acting program. Robichaux has been working steadily as an actor for decades while still holding down his workload within the education field. And as you will see embedded below from Robichaux’s Instagram account, many of his UCSD students go on to pursue full-time careers as actors.
On April 6, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Richard Robichaux via Zoom, as embedded below. We not only spoke about Big Shot and his work as a professor, but also music, sports and hobbies outside of work. More on Robichaux can be found online here, here and here.
