Cat Osterman On The Tokyo Games, Life After The Summer Olympics & Dick’s Sporting Goods

Cat Osterman is a former 3-time National Player of the Year, 4-time All-American, and 2-time Olympic medalist. She also served as assistant coach for the Texas State Bobcats in San Marcos, Texas from 2015 through 2020, after 3 seasons in a similar role for the St. Edwards Hilltoppers in Austin, Texas. A native of Houston, Texas, Osterman helped to lead the University of Texas to three Women’s College World Series appearances in 2003, 2005 and 2006. She also became the only individual to win USA Softball’s National Player of the Year honors 3 times after earning the honor each of those seasons.

After a 2020 filled with postponements, arguably no one is more excited to compete this summer at the Tokyo Games than Team USA Softball. For the first time in 13 years, Women’s Softball is back on the world’s biggest stage. With the support of the nation and partners like DICK’S Sporting Goods, Team USA will head to Tokyo in July seeking to continue its international winning streak.

Pitcher Cat Osterman is a veteran of Team USA Softball, and I had the pleasure of speaking with her via Zoom on May 20, 2021, as embedded below. Beyond this year’s Olympics, we also spoke about what she plans for life after softball. More on Osterman can be found here, here, here and here.
