Honoring Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (APIHM) and continuing the call for an end to violence beyond May, Vans is uplifting the voices of four young Asian American poets on the brand’s own channels in partnership with Get Lit-Words Ignite, a Los Angeles-based non-profit fighting to empower youth and inspire communities through poetry.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Van’s “We Will Be Louder” campaign celebrates the work of youth poets Gordon Ip (arriving soon), Jelina Hendrickson, Della Dragon, and Afrah Alam in a TikTok video series where they share their experience navigating mental health within the context of their own cultural heritage, united by a singular call for an end to hate crimes impacting their communities and families: “We Will Be Louder.”

With creatives worldwide working to pursue their art against challenging circumstances, Vans continues to commit resources once dedicated to traditional brand campaigns to empowering artists to bring their ideas to life. Within “These Projects Are Ads for Creativity,” Vans is continually uplifting the voices of AAPI-identifying creatives including Leimai LemaowMister TucksSuwukou and waaaavyyy, among a group of 30 creatives of a variety of backgrounds featured in 2021.
