Katarina Leigh Waters On Appearing In “The Other Side Of The Ring,” Juggling Acting And Wrestling, Future Plans & More

Scheduled for release via select on-demand outlets on May 20, 2021, the documentary The Other Side Of The Ring is a fascinating film showcasing 4 women within the male-dominated world of professional wrestling. Katarina Leigh Waters, Keta Meggett, Delilah Doom and Shelly Martinez star in this Jeremy Norrie film, which will be available through Tubi TV, Vimeo On Demand and Google Play with other platforms to follow; the trailer for the movie is embedded below.

The aforementioned Katarina Leigh Waters first made an impact upon international audiences as Katie Lea Burchill in the WWE. She moved along to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in 2010, quickly winning the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship and later becoming a 2-time TNA Knockouts Champion (as “Winter”). Waters would be ranked #18 in the “PWI Female 50” charts for women’s wrestling in 2012. Waters parted ways with TNA in 2012 and continued earning gold with other wrestling companies in the coming years. She would resurface on American television via Women Of Wrestling in 2017 (as “The Temptress”) and IMPACT Wrestling (as “Katarina”) in 2018.

Especially interesting about Katarina Leigh Waters — beyond her in-ring career — is that she has also worked steadily as an actress and stunt-performer. She has had roles in Amanda & The Guardian, 24 Hours In Vegas, Redcon-1 and Emergency: L.A.. Waters has also served as a horror host of Katarina’s Nightmare Theater, a line of DVD editions for vintage cult horror films released by Scorpion Releasing, while her IMDb page shows a variety of forthcoming television and film projects.

On May 12, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Katarina Leigh Waters via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond The Other Side Of The Ring, we spoke about how wrestling compares to acting as a craft, her aspirations as a writer, hobbies outside of wrestling and plenty more. Additional information on Waters and her various projects can be found by clicking here, here, here and here.
