ONE Championship’s Gurdarshan “Saint Lion” Mangat On His Most Recent Victory, Daytrading, Cryptocurrency & Future Plans

Battlefield Fight League Featherweight Champion Gurdarshan Mangat is the child of Indian immigrants, having grown up in a small town in Canada. A short, unathletic and academically-oriented child, he was relentlessly-bullied for his stutter, timid demeanor and simply being “different.”

Gurdarshan Mangat later moved to Vancouver to study accounting and pursue a career, but his life would change one day when he saw mixed martial arts World Champion Rich Franklin on television and had an epiphany. He realized that not all combat sports athletes were born into it, as some MMA fighters chose the path for themselves. Although he was already over 20 years old with no prior experience in competition, Mangat vowed to become a professional mixed martial artist. Within a year of first starting his martial arts training, Mangat was already stepping into the cage for his first amateur bout. Since going pro, the man known as “Saint Lion” quickly put together an excellent 13-2 record to earn a place in ONE Championship, which recently aired a series of special events on TNT.

Yet Gurdarshan Mangat’s successes inside the cage is far from the only interesting thing about him. He has grown into a prolific and accomplished day-trader within the stock market, also recently finding success with trading crypocurrency. We spoke about this within our May 17, 2021 chat with Zoom, as embedded below. And as it turns out, Mangat is far from the only active day-trader in MMA — or on the ONE Championship roster — which we also talked about at length.
