The Baby Birkin NFT Sold For as Much as the Real Thing

In an ironic nod to the iconic Birkin Bag by Hermès, “Baby Birkin” is a 2000 x 2000 animation in 3D max, featuring a baby in all stages of a 40 week pregnancy in the transparent bag. The NFT artwork by Mason Rothschild and Eric Ramirez is a literal play on the handbag that has become one of the most exclusive and sought-after bags due to its popularity in pop culture.

The “Baby Birkin” NFT auction closed yesterday on www.basic.space/nft/babybirkin and the final winning bid was $23,500.

Designers Mason Rothschild (@masonrothschild) and Eric Ramirez (@ericram_) are Los Angeles based creatives, using entrepreneurship and art to add value to the cultural zeitgeist across industries. Rothschild is co-founder of Temporary Contemporary and Ramirez is a self-taught painter, both known for their hand-painted, luxury goods owned by the likes of Travis Scott, J Balvin, John Mayer and select others.
