YungManny On The Success Of “Clap For ‘Em,” Future Career Plans, “Naruto,” Writing & More

“Clap For ‘Em,” as released last month, is yet another successful single and music video for emerging 17-year-old rapper YungManny. Marking his first release of 2021, the track showcases YungManny spitting his signature catchy, energetic verses over a buoyant, melodic beat. It also features 2 of Flo Milli and Sada Baby adding their own flare and trademark flow to the track. The paired visual of the music video matches the fun, vibrant track and pays homage to Sir Mix-A-Lot’s classic “Baby Got Back.”

YungManny, a DMV native, started rapping as early as 12 years old and has not stopped putting in the work since. YungManny released his EP Confused and the hilariously-manic visual “Moana Pt. 2” in 2020, which was the highly-anticipated sequel to 2018’s viral hit “Moana.” Other tracks by YungManny with millions of views, as achieved while an independent recording artist, were “I’m YungManny” and “All My Guys Are Ballers.” But aside from being a gifted rapper, YungManny is also classically-trained in piano, has a passion for giving back and is highly-intelligent; he graduated from high school at just 15.

On May 6, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with YungManny via Zoom, as embedded below. We not only spoke about his recent successful music releases, but also future career plans, his aspirations outside of music, Naruto and his writing process. More on YungManny is here, here, here and here.
