Andre Comeau On His Forthcoming “Clean Break” Album, Filming “The Real World Homecoming: New York” & More

You may have first heard the name Andre Comeau and his rock band Reigndance — which also featured Dean Fertita of Queens Of The Stone Age and The Dead Weather — when Comeau was one of the original cast members of the pioneering MTV reality television show The Real World. The experience gave Reigndance massive exposure and they were able to cull this notoriety into a recording contract, ultimately releasing 3 records through Greg Frey’s Interference record label. Following Reigndance’s disbanding in 1997, Comeau co-founded the folk-inspired and more-laid-back band River Rouge, which also put out a series of acclaimed studio albums.

Fast forward to 2020 and the solo career of Andre Comeau kicked off with the Wrong Within EP. A more straight-ahead rock project than River Rouge, the EP’s first single “Son Of A Gun” had me hooked from my first listen. 2021 has brought a few tracks from a forthcoming album by Comeau, Clean Break, in addition to an unanticipated reunion between Comeau and his Real World castmates via the recent Paramount Plus series The Real World Homecoming: New York. All while Comeau continues to find success behind the scenes in the music industry, placing songs in television and movie projects.

On June 16, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Andre Comeau for a second time via Zoom, as embedded below; our first interview was early into the COVID-19 quarantine/pandemic. Besides Clean Break and The Real World Homecoming: New York, we spoke about KISS, Van Halen, Michigan and future plans for the Los Angeles-based musician. More on Comeau can be found here, here and here.
