Fusing Elements from Different Music Genres, Introducing Duley Trucc

Music is a universal language where lyrics communicate messages. It can change a person’s mood; getting them excited or calming them down. A musical artist understands how their craft can resonate with a person’s emotional and mental state. It requires deep-rooted talent to convey effective messages through their songs. It is not just about creating a song for the sake of it. Respecting a listener’s choice is a trait of a true artist, which reflects in their songs.

An artist’s talent is reflected in the structured lyrics, rhythm, and composition of a particular song which connects to the listener’s soul. Musical artists become even more influential when they empower people with their songwriting abilities. One such musical artist and performer, who creates a fusion between trap, hip-hop, rock, pop, and R&B music is Duley Trucc.

The Passionate Soul

Tevin Speights, known by his stage name ‘Duley Trucc,’ was born on November 21st, 1991, in Conway in South Carolina (USA). He started his journey as a performing artist when he was as young as a kid in 4th grade. He began rapping by making beats on the bathroom stalls and enjoyed his freestyle rapping with friends. Although Tevin’s ‘friends’ were not genuine,’ he still had to spend time with them cluelessly. As a kid, Tevin enjoyed spending time with his classmates, some white, some black, and some belonging from mixed races. Some of his classmates were not genuine friends while other white classmates made racist comments towards him and his black friends for looking different.

As a man of color, Tevin got bullied by the white kids at school. He attended Conway High School for one year but later got expelled because he got into a fight with a white boy on the school premises. Since then, Tevin’s mind imprinted this observation where he felt stressed initially, but he knew that he would do something later to empower people. Little did he know that it will be through his different adaptations of music. The journey from Tevin Speights to Duley Trucc began when he wrote his first song while he was in 7th grade. The song was called ‘Friday the 13th’.’ The first successful recording gave him the confidence to write and compose other songs, address practical issues, and empower people worldwide.

Although Tevin was expelled from high school, he enrolled in another and graduated from Aynor High School in South Carolina. Throughout this journey, he would rap his freestyle’s in front of his friends. It was one of his friend’s brothers who inspired him to become a rapper. Giving it a second thought, Tevin pursued his passion and developed it into a career. He worked hard to launch his first debut album called “Mechanic,” and adapted Duley Trucc as his stage name.

The Extraordinary Thought Behind His Music Composition

Duley Trucc’s debut comprises fourteen tracks and is around forty minutes in length. It is grouped into the hip-hop genre, where each track conveys an assorted scope of compositional components that feature his songwriting ability and vocal execution.

The thoughts behind this album were to create something for everybody. Instead of doing a one-dimensional project, he wanted to show that he is a multi-dimensional artist who can fuse other genres’ elements into trap music. He named the album ‘Mechanic’ because he challenged himself inside and out, musically and physically. He spent months training his vocals and doing physical exercises to build his stamina. Duley Trucc learned how to use his voice and words as instruments to tell musical stories. As a result, he transformed himself into a strong individual, the world known him as today. He wants the world to understand that everybody is a mechanic on some level and should work on themselves to get better.

Duley Trucc’s vision behind the composition of music is extraordinary. The album has melodic piano progressions, steady beats, layered vocal effects, smooth instrumental vibes, free-flowing backing vocals, catchy hooks, powerful sub-bass, upbeat percussions, ethereal riffs that provide the perfect platform for the seamlessly synchronized lyricisms. The amalgamation of these elements and fusion of different genres allow him to create songs that affect and empower people in a positive way. He aims to bring meaning to everyone’s life through his soulful music. Starting from his personal experience where he was a victim of ‘black-community bullying,’ today he aims to address the brutality people show towards people of color.

Originating from a black community, Duley Trucc wants to create music that reaches everyone globally. He wants to highlight these issues through his music adaptation. Duley mentions how police brutality affects people of color. He fears that it is not just the black community that needs the support of the world. There might be several other communities that night be in need of support too. Duley Trucc wants to address this through his music. He mentions that he wants to travel the world and explore different cultures. He also wants to create music influenced by different cultures of the world. His high aims and goals reflect how much of a dedicated musical artist he is. It is not easy to mix different genres and create worthwhile songs out of the fusion. Duley Trucc’s efforts and determination are pure examples of how empowering an artist could be for its listeners.
