0Larkin Poe On Headlining This Year’s “Monster Energy Outbreak Tour,” Recording Plans, Elvis Costello, Metal, Influences & More
Rebecca and Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe are singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist sisters respected for creating their own brand of roots-based rock. Gritty, soulful and flavored by their southern heritage, Larkin Poe is originally from Atlanta and currently based in Nashville. The GRAMMY-nominated sisters are also notably descendants of the creative genius known as Edgar Allan Poe.
Kicking off on September 15, 2021, the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour will be headlined by Larkin Poe and hitting major cities across the States. Notable previous alumni of the tastemaker concert series include Lindsay Ell, Bones UK, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore, The Chainsmokers, Mike Shinoda, and Cole Swindell. Larkin Poe will be touring in support of 2 acclaimed full-length albums released in 2020, Self Made Man (available via the band’s own Tricki-Woo Records) and Kindred Spirits (a self-produced collection of stripped-back covers by the Allman Brothers Band, Robert Johnson, Elton John, Post Malone and Ozzy Osbourne). Earlier this year, Larkin Poe launched a subscription-based livestreaming and video-on-demand platform offering exclusive concerts and original content known as LPTV. As if that were not enough recent output, the duo recently joined Dierks Bentley and The War & Treaty to perform “Pride (In the Name of Love)” at the 2021 ACM Awards, while they be featured on ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbon’s forthcoming album Hardware.
On June 10, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with both Rebecca and Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe via Zoom as embedded below. Beyond the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour, we spoke about the band’s 2 most recent studio efforts, future plans post-2021, metal, influences and touring with Elvis Costello.
