NXT Star Franky Monet On Her New Film “Unchained,” Her Prior Life As Taya Valkyrie, Plans For Her “Wera Loca” Brand & More

Per the new film Unchained: “To Rise You Must Be Willing to Fall.” In Unchained, an idealistic woman is kidnapped and forced to compete in an underground fight ring. Every night is a fight for her life as she plans to overthrow her captors and save the lives of many others doomed to the same endless cycle. This full-tilt action thriller opens up the world of underground fighting this summer and stars Taya Valkyrie (a.k.a. NXT’s Franky Monet), Academy Award winner Eric Roberts, Mair Mulroney, Maricris Lapaix, Roni Weissman, Kasarlina Wang, Svetlana Constantine and Larry L. Andrews. Unchained was directed and co-written by the single-named Raphaello (the forthcoming Alastor, Rogue Planet Gamma, The Curse Of Salem) and co-written and produced with John Bryan and Ilia Constantine.

Beyond acting in Unchained and performing as part of NXT roster, the aforementioned Monet has an acclaimed fashion line, LOCA By Taya Valkyrie. LOCA’s wears are notably hand-dyed by Monet/Valkyrie herself, an alumnus of the fashion program at the Academy Of Art University in San Francisco.

As embedded below, I had the pleasure of speaking with Monet/Valkyrie again on June 16, 2021 via Zoom, as embedded beow. Beyond Unchained — which is due out on July 2, 2021 via Leomark Studios — we spoke about her multi-faceted career, future plans for LOCA, musical influences, and life away from professional wrestling. More on the star can be found by clicking here, here and here.
